Port Orleans - Boats to Downtown Disney

Hi All! Anyone know if the boats are still running from Port Orleans to Downtown Disney? I can't remember what they are called?? Our trip is planned for late-August and we were planning on taking a boatride from our hotel (Port Orleans - Riverside) to Downtown Disney on our first night. Thanks for your help.

I Just got back from POR this past Thur, and the boats were running great. I think they started around noon or so. They run from POR a little more than French Quarter. It's a very nice, relaxing 20-25 minute ride.

The Sassagoula River Cruise runs all day from Riverside to French Quarter, and back. Not sure of exact times, but I beleive it's from 4-10 that they run to Downtown Disney.

Thank you both for your input!! I figured the boats would be running, however got suspicious when I read about the cruise in Birnbaum's 2002 book .. and not in the 2003 book. I wonder why they chose not to include this tidbit of informaiton? Regardless, we will start off our vacation with a peaceful boat ride from Port Orleans to Downtown Disney on our arrival night. Now it's deciding where to eat! Thanks again!

Guidebooks, such as Birnbaums go to press well before the date that they are released. At the time that Birnbaums went to press for the 2003 year, the boats were not running to Downtown Disney... part of the cutback after 9/11. Once PO-FQ reopened and attendence picked up, the restarted both the boats between PO-FQ and PO-R and the one that runs to DTD (which by the way, are not the same boat). The boats between the resorts run every 15 minutes between 9 am and 9:30 pm, and the boat from PO-R and PO-FQ to DTD runs from 4 pm until 11 pm.

When we were there in Sept/02 they were running great. We are donwtown disney addicts so staying at PO and having the boats was great.

We are staying ASmusic this time and my dh said to me today, you realize no boats and no benches to wait for the busses..ha ha. We have been spoiled with CBR and PO our last 2 trips.
