So, it just dawned on me that we don't have transportation from the port back to the airport. We're staying at a hotel that offers a free shuttle TO the port, but how the heck to we get to the airport after the cruise is done??

We have 2 kids (6 and 3) and will not have our car seats with us so cabs are out.

Has anyone taken their public transit before?

Flight leaves 2:30pm.

I can't believe I overlooked this detail. We sail in 3 days!!!!!!!

Can you call a cab company to see if they have child seats in any of their cabs? Or Uber?

If you don't have your child seats with you, how are you taking the shuttle to the port?

Doing a little bit of research, it appears that Florida may not require child seats for taxis. I'm intrigued and trying to dig deeper.

Edit: Apparently not required http://www.leg.state.fl.us/statutes...ute&URL=0300-0399/0316/Sections/0316.613.html

(6) The child restraint requirements imposed by this section do not apply to a chauffeur-driven taxi, limousine, sedan, van, bus, motor coach, or other passenger vehicle if the operator and the motor vehicle are hired and used for the transportation of persons for compensation. It is the obligation and responsibility of the parent, guardian, or other person responsible for a child’s welfare as defined in s. 39.01 to comply with the requirements of this section.

Phinz, I had done extensive research on FL car seat laws and all signs pointed to cabbies needing car seats. Though your link doesn't support what I found earlier.

I just booked with Metro Shuttle to take us to the airport and requested car seats for my LOs. Going there, the shuttle is a bus and the buses do not require car seats.

Thanks for the replies!

Can always have a rental, cheap and if you decide not to use it For checking the city out. Can cancel without penalty at most places. Just have to have a confirmation. Gets you to the airport though.

Worth it even if using it for a couple hours.

I live in Miami, born and raised, I highly recommend you refrain from taking public transportation in Miami. Contact Miami Super Shuttle. This service provides shuttle service to and from MIA.

I just got back from MIA - we sailed the Disney Magic Jan 15-20. We booked the DCL transfers from Port to MIA - super easy! We were out of the terminal by 8:25am and at the airport by 9:10am. We easily made our 11:38am flight. I traveled with my 6 year old and we rode taxis twice - once from MIA to our Hotel and from the Hotel to Port - we didn't bring a carseat and he was fine.

I would probably just call to add on the DCL transfer. Then you don't have to worry about cabs and car seats.

We sailed Miami back in October. We were planning on getting a cab but there were shuttle vans right as you come out of the terminal. We paid $10 each and it was very easy. Our flight was too early for Disney Transportation so we had to do it on our own.

I would recommend taking an UBER. We did from FLL to our downtown Miami hotel, from the hotel to the port, and from the port to FLL. All good experiences!

I have done this 3 times and just hopped in a cab with no issues. Very easy just got in the line outside the port. I have had two instances one in Miami and one in port canaveral with booking a service in advance, one never showed up and one came incredibly late. I never have issues hopping in a cab, fast and easy. ( but I have never needed car seats)
