Port Charges?

When you get a quote from DCL...does it include the Port Charges? I'm trying to figure out why there's such a big difference between the price I'm getting from a TA here in Canada (who quotes an additional cost for Port Charges) and the price I was quoted by DCL. The difference in price seems to be about the same amount as what they are quoting me for Port Charges). I know I could call DCL but I was hoping someone here could answer for me. TIA.

It should tell you on the quote whether or not port charges and taxes are included. I think it depends on the company......

My TA quote includes the Port Charges but I'm wondering about DCL...does their quote (I got it over the phone) include Port Charges? I believe I was told all taxes & charges were included but I'm just wondering if that includes Port Charges. Thanks.

I believe that DCL automatically adds both port charges and trip insurance to their quotes. At least they do on the Web site.

I would call DCL to be sure. We just went thru DCL on our recent Wonder trip and port chgs were included in quote. There is optional transfer and ins. protection on their site.

I think I once read that in the U.S., cruise lines must quote prices to include port charges. As I recall, there were several class-action suits against cruise lines for deceptive business practices, and as a result, legislation was passed requiring that cruise fare quotes include port charges. The DCL quotes I've gotten have always included port charges, but not "government taxes and fees," which may be slang for port charges....
