Port Canaveral to WDW... ME via MCO?

So we are staying at WDW for one night with two [almost] full days at the parks. Prior to that we are taking a 3 day cruise to the Bahamas with Royal Caribbean.

I knew that there were MCO to Port Canaveral shuttles that are as cheap as $35 round trip and they offer MCO to hotels or the cruise port for the same rate. So I inquired if we can do MCO to Cruise and then Cruise to WDW as our round trip. They said that I should instead use them to come back to MCO and take the Disney ME.

We already have ME for our trip back from WDW to MCO. So my questions are: can I add ME for our arrival day even though we are not really arriving via a flight at MCO? If so, with a month left our trip, can I still add it to our reservation?

P.S. The goal is to save money and find the cheapest way to do this.

Yes, you can. See the dedicated DME threads for the direct toll-free number and modify your reservation.

Thanks. What do you think about that option though? Is there another route I should look into, like a one way rental from Port Canaveral to WDW? Is it possible to get to WDW in rental and then get to a resort via a Disney bus...?
