It's getting closer.....those docs just make it seem more real!

Anyway, our family of 4 is cruising on Sunday 9/22. We will arrive around noon Saturday and go to Kennedy Space Center until about dinner time. We have ressies at the Radisson that night. We will need to eat dinner and breakfast in Port Canaveral....Yes, we will have a car.

I've heard alot about Kelseys, Zachary's and Grills . Which one is preferred by all of you? Two kids here so nothing fancy. I understand Grills is great but I imagine it would be very crowded on a Sat night and we don't really want to wait an hour for seating. I know that generally Dave recomends Kelseys...the pizza place, for dinner and Zachary's...the greek place, for breakfast. This is our tentative plan. But, I wondered after looking at the Zachary's menu...has anyone ever eaten dinner there? It sounds very good to me! And also, if so, do they have a children's menu? The kids won't go for Gyros.

Anyway, just looking for some food opinions...let's here them!

I personally think Grills is great..

but

With the kids, I think your plan is better. If they were a bit older I'd say different. I havn't eaten at either of the places you mentioned, so can't help you there. We did the breakfast buffet in the Radisson and found it very nice. They have a chef doing cook-to-order and all the usual chioces.

My wife and I ate at the Mcdonalds across the street for breakfast when we stayed at the Radisson.

We liked Kelsey's for lunch. I think your children would like it if they like pizza.

We didn't try the greek place!

Just wondering why with the kids you might not recommend Grills...we were thinking of doing it the night before our cruise in June 2003...our kids will be 11 & 13 then...is it not a "kid friendly" place...all I read about it seems like it is alot of fun...

Hello there - first I live here, BUT Dave has the best information on the eating areas here in Brevard County - I take not only my children, but grandchildren as well to Grills - it has entertainment with watching the fishing, boating, music etc - it is very children friendly - I have not had one bad experience there - there are a number of restaurants here - all within 2 miles of the Radisson - The Moon Hut is the oldest restaurant in Cape Canaveral and has the reputation of the astronaults stopping there to eat and they have signed autographs when possible - Poppy and Nick are great folks and their food is good - the CB Pier is awesome - to sit right over the ocean and watch the beachgoers is sometimes comical - Norm and I went Sunday to the brunch and watched the surfers catching waves while we ate - It is a matter of choice of time and convienance -
anyhow if I can help, just stop at the shop - we are only 1 1/4 miles south of the Radisson.

Definitely trust Shirley's opinion over anything I could say about Grill's. The night we ate there was the end of one of those fishing tournaments and it was a lot busy to say the least. The food was excellent, however, and will be going back there if we get on the feb 2 cruise. :)

Dave, you are GREAT! Loved the link and seeing a different website....must say yours has more info....BUT...I've read it soo much its nice to see somthing different...Thanks!

We were a group of 17 and we ate at Kelsey's on 8/2 for lunch before our 8/3 Magic cruise.

The food was fantastic, great atmosphere, and they didn't blink an eye when 17 of us walked in for lunch. They were very gracious and we had a fantastic waitress.

I would highly recommend them.

For dinner, it was a bit more hectic trying to find a place that could fit 17. After calling a few places, including Grills (2 hour wait), we decided on eating at the Radisson rest. the Flamingo. It was very reasonable and they also sat us down almost immediately. We had a very good meal there as well.

Hope this helps any future cruisers.

I went to Dave's site and realized that we had gone to Grills during our stay at the Radisson a few months ago. I just didn't remember the name. We hung out at the park down the road and watched the Magic leave and then ate dinner at the restaurant one Saturday. There was a good 45 minute to hour wait. The food was good as seafood goes. We had some kind of grilled steak type of fish. It was good, but not spectacular. It was on par with Red Lobster in Orlando I think. The view is fun if you want to see the port. If you would like a nice beach view you would want to go somewhere else.

We were glad we went, but I'm trying to give you some more info.

Unfortunalty - Grills does not take reservations, but I have found that the waiting period is not too bad especially if you have children - the atmosphere tho does keep you pretty well entertained for most part - they give you a beeper with lights to carry with you.
Hope this helps.
Always
