I am also putting this on the Universal forum just in case. Has anyone stayed at the Hotel Caribe in Salou? It is an on site hotel for Port Aventura which is a Universal park. We are planning on staying there July 27th this year so would welcome any tips/advice.:banana::dance3:

Sorry no tips, just wanted to :wave:we are in Salou from the 26th July. We are also going to Port aventura but have not been before so can't give any advice. We're staying in Salou itself though

Have fun, I know we will. I have checked trip advisor and it suggests you take lots of euros.

My sister stayed in one of the onsite hotels at Port Aventura, her and her family loved it. By the way, Port Aventura is a great park, we go every year now, as we love the Park and the local area so much. We stay in Vila-Seca, two miles inland from Salou. We have a beautiful, modern 4 Star hotel that we use, for the same price as much lesser accommodations in Salou itself.

I've stayed in the El Paso about 5 or so years ago. It was good and the resort itself is fun. Nice and relaxing and some decent rides. Have fun! :thumbsup2

I haven't stayed at onsite but I have been to Port Aventura a few times now and love it there! Loads of great rides. We love going in September for Halloween.

Does anyone remember the days when it was owned by Universal?

I went there in 1999 before the hotels were built. Universal had just bought it. I don't think that they own it now.

We stayed there in April - it is on site, but you get to the park via a tram (like the ones from the Disney car parks). They are very regular and the hotel is nice.

we just got back from there a couple of weeks ago, it was nice, the buffets can get rearly busy but nothing were not used to, the pools also close early at 6, and we like to come back and have a swim (lol saying that they were so cold we probably wouldnt have bothered anyway in the evening).

Theres a little tram that takes you to the parks or to the seafront in salou, well worth a trip as you go along the coast and see some lovely beachy spots and views.

Any more questions just ask, you know we didnt spend that much the hotlel was half board and the shops pretty much sell all the same sort of stuff so we actually came home with money...lol

Apologies, I'm a bit late to this, but to keep the housekeeping in order, I'm going to pop it over to UK Community. :thumbsup2

Someone did a trip report last year?

I went years ago when it was still owned by the Tussauds group - brillaint theme park :thumbsup2

Hi Martin,
We went end of August/early Sept last year, the Park is no longer owned by Universal but I don't think much has changed since it did. We stayed at the El Paso (same as Terri) but we visited the Caribe which is just a few hundred yards around the corner - the parks are walkable (slightly uphill).
We had a great week there and DH mentioned at the weekend that he would like to try and catch a last minute week there this summer too - and DH never re-visits anywhere. Not sure of your group dynamics but we found the beach club a must do.

My full trip report is here,I hope it's helpful. If you have other questions, please ask.

Have a great holiday:thumbsup2

Many thanks Joanne. Really enjoyed reading your report and can't wait to go back.:cool1::banana:

we stayed at the Port Ventura hotel a few years ago but this year we will stay in Salou itself at the end of July for three days on our drive home from our place in spain so will see you all there!!

We stayed at the hotel caribe a few years ago. I really loved the hotel - it was very peaceful and the rooms were very nice. The food offerings were very good. The pools were nice and perfect for an afternoon break. You can easily walk to the theme park. If you have any questions just ask! :)
