Advise from Disney vets please. What building should we ask for? We have a 5 and 6 year old. I noticed a couple of negative comments:(

These are Alligator Bayou buildings, close to the food court, play ground, main pool. lobby, bus stop, etc.... Plus the theme here is really neat for young children. Our 16, 13 and 6 yo loved it 2 years ago.

Good luck and have fun!

Don't forget to catch Piano Bob and the River roost lounge in the evenings. He is a real hoot!!

This is our favorite resort :teeth: as Pryncess'mom stated
alligator bayou is a nice palce to request, we stay in building 14 all the time. Don't worry to much about the bad post, there are just as many good post. If you scroll down the resorts board page, look for the name WDW Besty, she is/was staying at POR.

We stayed at POR last December. It is a beautiful resort. We loved everything about it. We stayed in the mansions section. The walk to the food court was lovely and relaxing. Don't worry about negative reviews, you can't always please everyone. I think you made a good choice and will have a wonderful and magic time.

You are going to love this resort, it is beautiful. They have the best foodcourt on property.
The resort is broken into two sections:
Alligator bayou, cajan themed, rooms can accommodate 5 as they have the doubles and a trundle bed. Bldgs closest to lobby but very popular and the closest bldgs are given to disabled guest.
Our fave section is Magnolia Bend. Each building is a different style of plantation home. They tend to be quieter. We request Oak Manor or Parterre Place because a short walk over the bridge leads to the main bldg. The landscaping is beautiful.
There is one main pool which also has a pool bar, jacuzzi and playground all on an island in the middle of the resort. Usually 2 bldgs share a quiet pool as well. They also have a great sit down restaurant Boatwrights. On some evenings a wonderful entertaining gets everyone involved in his fun show that occurs in the lounge.

Here is a site with some pictures:

So dont worry I am sure you will enjoy staying there.

Just spent 10 days at POR. We just got back today. We were in Oak Manor room 9225. It was beautiful. The pool is great and there is a playground. We also have a 4yo DS and a 5yo DD. Bob was fantastic after a long day at the parks, alot of fun. Food court was excellent, buy the refillable mugs for 11.99. Free refills for the time you are there. The food was very good. There are several quiet pools in addition to the main pool and we used the one at our building late at night while doing laundry located near the quiet pool.
