OH that resort is awesome. We love it BUT we refuse to call it anything but DIXIE LANDINGS -- awe so beatiful
Thanks for the suggestion. I have it written down on the must do list.Donald - my hero said:OH that resort is awesome. We love it BUT we refuse to call it anything but DIXIE LANDINGS -- awe so beatifulAsk for a corner room w/king sized bed and you will NOT be disappointed.

Northstar said:Hey, dandee00! Great minds think alike... yours and mine, I mean. We've been staying 2-3 nights at AKL for the past 2 years and LOVE it but can't afford to spend our whole time there... so this year, for the first time I was looking to split our time between AKL and a moderate and I hit on POR as the best choice for us, probably for the same reasons you are considering it. So we'll be staying there for the first time mid-December. Nice to hear the encouraging comments from others here, isn't it.

Well, next year (as in 2008) will be DH's 40th, so were gonna save GF for that.
We were going to do just PoR, but it will be our 5th wedding anniversary, so we opted to do something special and seeing as it's been a while since we've been...the Poly was it.
To the OP - sorry for the OT.
livabeth said:We just got back from a week at POR last Saturday. The grounds are beautiful ... you don't feel like you are in disney world. And we could not believe that with the 2000+ rooms how quiet it was at the resort. We especially liked the quiet pools because the main pool got too crowded and wild (kids out of control). Our 2 DDs loved not being splashed and bumped into constantly. I agree that breakfast at the food court was very crowded. We found that if you went for an early breakfast before 7:30 a.m. it was quieter.
We stayed in Magnolia Terrace. The room was nice and relatively clean. When we arrived, it could have used a dusting and there was sticky stuff on the refrigerator and end table. I had brought Lysol Wipes and felt better once i gave the room a once over. The maids did basic tidying up each day and we got a couple of towel animals that the girls loved!!
The buses were overcrowded. On the first day we decided to take the bus to MK. It was full when it arrived to the main depot and then we found that the line that had been formed when we arrived was taken over by everyone who arrived after us. After we didn't even make it close to getting on the first bus, we hopped in the rental car and got to MK within 10 minutes. We didn't use the buses again the rest of the week and were so happy we rented a car. On our second day to MK we were named the First Family to ride the Ferry as part of the Year of a Million Dreams. My daughters got Mickey/Minnie figurines and balloons and we got pictures taken, a certificate and our own private ferry ride to MK. It was awesome!!
The carriage ride around the resort was fun and the boat to DTD was convenient. We didn't have too much dealings with the CMs, but those we did talk to were helpful.
We would defintely stay at POR again, but would definitely rent a car.
Any other questions ... let me know.
