:cool1: AKL is already decided. But I'm having a hard time trying to decide on a moderate. I'm seriously considering POR for some relaxing time away from the parks. It's just me and DH. Any comments would be appreciated.

Hey Dee!

I quite like this resort and would stay there again in a heartbeat! It's so beautiful, try to take the time to wander the gardens.

We stayed at PO:FQ for our honeymoon in May and it was very relaxing. There was not many kid around. Mostly adults.

oh and Downtown Disney was just a short ride away by boat.

We stayed at POR and loved it.

The restaurants onsite were great, central pool was fun and quiet pools were... well... quiet.

As Sean mentioned, being able to hop on the boat to DTD was an excellent perk. We also found the buses to be good (and not too busy).

We stayed there last February for two nights - and then moved to WL for the balance of the holiday.
We really liked the feel of this hotel. We went for a long walk along the water and lost track of time. The boat to DTD is great (although it didn't start until after 11am) and the buses weren't too bad. Ask for a room close to the main building as it's a fairly spread out hotel. The food court is crazy first thing in the morning so don't expect a quiet breakfast!

:thumbsup2

We stayed there in April. We were close to the main building, but it felt like and sounded like we were in the middle of nowhere! Very scenic, excellent bus service and the boat to DTD was one of our favorite "new" things to do.

You will love it!

We are staying there in February because of all the great things said on this board and the fact that the Alligator Bayou is able to accomodate 5 in a room! I still dont know how we are going to manage to stay all together in this room for 10 days...:lmao: and still love each other! The grounds look beautiful:sunny:

Hey, dandee00! Great minds think alike... yours and mine, I mean. We've been staying 2-3 nights at AKL for the past 2 years and LOVE it but can't afford to spend our whole time there... so this year, for the first time I was looking to split our time between AKL and a moderate and I hit on POR as the best choice for us, probably for the same reasons you are considering it. So we'll be staying there for the first time mid-December. Nice to hear the encouraging comments from others here, isn't it.

Another vote for PoR! :thumbsup2

We're heading down in May and splitting our stay between PoR and the Poly. :)

You are??? I was hoping to go down in May too ! :thumbsup2 Hopefully the Poly as well. Why not the GF and PoR Madonna31?

My vote is for PoR too ! :goodvibes

POR is awesome - lush, green, romantic and wonderful

I highly recommmend the horse and carriage ride, boatrights for breakfast - the banana stuffed french toast was great! and the boat to DTD was so convenient.

Enjoy and don't hesitate

Denise

Yep, I'm booked and everything! :cool1: Keep me posted if you end up there when I do!!

Why not the GF and PoR Madonna31?

Well, next year (as in 2008) will be DH's 40th, so were gonna save GF for that. :)

We were going to do just PoR, but it will be our 5th wedding anniversary, so we opted to do something special and seeing as it's been a while since we've been...the Poly was it.

To the OP - sorry for the OT.

OH that resort is awesome. We love it BUT we refuse to call it anything but DIXIE LANDINGS -- awe so beatiful :cool1: Ask for a corner room w/king sized bed and you will NOT be disappointed.
Have a magical time :cool1:

::yes::

Oh, I wish I was in Dixie! Hooray! Hooray!
In Dixie Land I'll take my stand
To live and die it's "Dixie"
Away, away, away down south in Dixie
Away, away, away down south in Dixie!

We just got back from a week at POR last Saturday. The grounds are beautiful ... you don't feel like you are in disney world. And we could not believe that with the 2000+ rooms how quiet it was at the resort. We especially liked the quiet pools because the main pool got too crowded and wild (kids out of control). Our 2 DDs loved not being splashed and bumped into constantly. I agree that breakfast at the food court was very crowded. We found that if you went for an early breakfast before 7:30 a.m. it was quieter.

We stayed in Magnolia Terrace. The room was nice and relatively clean. When we arrived, it could have used a dusting and there was sticky stuff on the refrigerator and end table. I had brought Lysol Wipes and felt better once i gave the room a once over. The maids did basic tidying up each day and we got a couple of towel animals that the girls loved!!

The buses were overcrowded. On the first day we decided to take the bus to MK. It was full when it arrived to the main depot and then we found that the line that had been formed when we arrived was taken over by everyone who arrived after us. After we didn't even make it close to getting on the first bus, we hopped in the rental car and got to MK within 10 minutes. We didn't use the buses again the rest of the week and were so happy we rented a car. On our second day to MK we were named the First Family to ride the Ferry as part of the Year of a Million Dreams. My daughters got Mickey/Minnie figurines and balloons and we got pictures taken, a certificate and our own private ferry ride to MK. It was awesome!!

The carriage ride around the resort was fun and the boat to DTD was convenient. We didn't have too much dealings with the CMs, but those we did talk to were helpful.

We would defintely stay at POR again, but would definitely rent a car.

Any other questions ... let me know.

We will have our own vehicle. :moped: Makes it easier to get around.
Can you tell me a little bit about the food court. They types of food and the cost.
Thanks
