POR worth way more than CSR?

We currently have two rooms at the Coronado Springs in November because there were no rooms at Port Orleans Riverside for our promo when we booked but now there is! It would cost is $350 (amongst 5 people) to switch to POR... Do you guys/gals think it is worth it or are we just as well off at CSR (we stayed there last year and had no complaints).

Thanks!

I should've mentioned they're Royal Rooms (not sure how they are diff from regular rooms).

Personally I would pay $350 more to stay at CSR.

Wow total opposite? How come? I'm trying to make a decision for our whole group and want to make sure it is right! We have two people in their 50's, 2 people in late 20's, an 11 year old who has never been to Disney, and a 2 year old. Huge variety.

Unless you value having boat access to DTD or prefer the theming at POR, I agree.

I personally prefer the theming at CSR.

And I don't care much about the boat access to DTD because we usually skip it unless we're on a really long trip.

The bedding is reportedly better at CSR (more comfortable mattresses/pillows and duvets instead of bedspreads) as is the bus service (we had teriffic bus service at CSR whereas a close family member recently reported having very spotty bus service at POR).

POR does have a really good counter service food court (Riverside Mill) and Boatwright's generally gets better (or at least fewer negative) reviews than Maya Grill. Also doesn't have the convention resort aspect.

We love both POR and CSR.

I would basically go with whichever was the least expensive.

go with the least expensive - although they are very different - CSR has more of a deluxe feeling to it.

It has a gym/spa - POR does not.

Now the quick service (food Court) charges you 10% for the waitress to bring you - your drink and clean up.

CSR is our favorite Moderate resort!

POR is our least favorite. we ARE staying there in January because we want to try the Royal Rooms. and, once my youngest turns 3, POR will be the only Mod we can choose (if we only get one room). but it most definitely isn't our favorite.

POR royal rooms are more heavily themed. Some people love the Royal look and the headboards that light up when you push a button. It is magical and immersive for those that like it, and is cute for many others. At the end of the day it is an upcharge for more decorations in your room. Since all the rooms are lovely at POR, I think that it is a nice experience if it appeals to you to do once. Generally, it isn't worth the money once you've seen it (just my opinion, of course. Others may disagree)

CSR and POR are both lovely resrts with comfortable rooms and much the same amenities. If staying at POR I would book preferred rooms to be close to the main building because it is so spread out, especially in the bayou section. If you have Royal rooms, you will be in the mansions, which is not real close, but not as far away as some AB rooms.

Look online at pics of the Royal rooms to see if they appeal to you. It is probably whay you are paying more for POR than CSR. Only you can decide if the special rooms and new resort are worth the extra $$$. Normally I would say go to whichever one is cheaper, but if you've styaed at CSR and nor POR and if you like the royal rooms, I'd probably stay at POR

Which theme do you prefer? The Royal rooms are a lot more "Disney" than those at CSR. I bet your 11 and 2 Year Olds would most likely prefer the Royal Rooms at POR. Personally, I prefer POR to CSR but CSR is a very nice resort too. Since we live in the Southwest, the theme of CSR has less appeal to us.

Many reasons. I don't find the theme at POR really makes me feel like I'm on a holiday. We're from western Canada and usually goto WDW in the winter and like feeling I'm somewhere tropical.

I feel like CSR is an "almost" Deluxe resort at the Mod price. Things it has that POR and CBR don't:

Fitness Center, Spa, Sauna, Salon, Lap pool, nicer larger pool, longer water slide, largest hot tub at WDW, night club style lounge as well as outdoor lounge and pool bar, arguably more comfortable beds, upscale feeling rooms, and better bus service.

The negatives you usually here on CSR are 3 things, too big, Pepper Market is confusing, and its a convention resort.

I like that its big and spread out, its a beautiful resort to walk around and the size is the reason it's so peaceful even when its full. I like Pepper Market and don't find it the slightest bit confusing. I've rarely noticed there is a convention going on and it certainly didn't take away from my stay.

My understanding of the boat to DTD at POR is that the lines are long and the ride takes too long when the resort is busy. So its a novelity to ride once, but not an amenity to me. We generally go at busy times.

So those are my reasons, I know alot of people that choose a Mod resort don't care about some of the extras at CSR, but we do. :thumbsup2

Personally, I've stayed at both.
I stayed at CSR before I stayed at POR so I didn't know the difference.
Now I do, and I LOVE POR.
I did enjoy CSR when I was there. I totally would try for Casiitas this time over Cabanas if I had to go back, just for the bus rotation, and the fact that busses were full often when they got to us.
However, even though I love POR, no way would I stay in a Royal Room. I don't care if it was a free upgrade. The things I love about POR is the not flashy part like a RR would be.
you'll like CSR.

CSR appeals to all ages. The Dig Site is a very nice pool area with a great snack bar. The rooms to me are more upscale than those the Royal Rooms at POR. There are sliding doors which can separate the dressing room area from the bedroom instead of having it open as at POR. The grounds are absolutely my favorite! The CMs are fantastic too.

I asked this same question last year. We opted for the POR Royal rooms because there was a lot of negative comments about the huge walking distance and the conference center at CSR. We were VERY pleased with the POR and took the boat twice to DTD. It was not a long wait or a ride. We liked it a lot.

As much as we loved it, we also want to try the CSR on our next trip. I don't think you will go wrong with either.

CSR is our favorite also. But for our January trip, there are not hardly any rooms available for our week (only king suites left). So we are trying out POR. I'm curious to know why it's your least favorite. We've not been to POR before. We booked preferred.

Those are my two fav Moderates when I travel solo. Although, my preference is POR, (DTD boats and I like the motif better) CSR is awesome! They have this food court called The Peppermill that I have enjoyed greatly. The lake is super pleasant to walk around at night. It's lovely.

You will LOVE it! Preferred is great too, although we stayed regular in Magnolia mansion and were quite close. The food court and overall ambience (? spelling) is excellent.

We also love CSR!!! I don't have a single thing to say negatively about it.

This year, we decided to try something different,Booked originally at POFQ,because the smaller aspect of a resort sounded appealing, then changed this week over to POR in order to get free dining in Nov.
I hope we are happy with our choice......but from all that I am reading,POR sounds like a lovely resort :)
