We went to DW last year and stayed at POR and we really enjoyed the grounds and the quiet pools. This year we are deciding between POR and POFQ. Does anyone have an opinion on which is better and does POFQ have quiet pools and a good food court. Any info on comparing the two would be appreciated.

I prefer the POFQ because of it's smaller size. I almost feel like I have the resort to myself. I love walking around the resort--it's so quaint. It's bright, colorful, and whimsical, but not overdone. The POFQ does not have quiet pools, but as they are sister resorts, you can use the pools over at the POR. I also like the food court at the POFQ. They have a good selection of food. No room is more than a five to seven minute walk from the bus stop and the pool.

The POR is a very nice resort as well, but a bit too spread out for my tastes.

This is really a tough decision. Let's see:
1) POFQ is much smaller than POR, which is pretty spread out.
2) They share the boat to DTD.
3) The shared buses usually stop 1st at POFQ.
4) POFQ does not have a full service restaurant while POR has Boatwright's.
5) Many DISers feel the food court at POFQ is better than the one at POR but I"m not sure why.
6) POR has a main pool as well as "quiet" pools scattered throughout the resort while POFQ has only the main pool.
7) Both have a nice spa although the one at POFQ is more secluded from the pool than the spa at POR.
8) As for theme, I guess it depends on personal taste since they a quite a bit different. At POR, I prefer the AB and my DW prefers the Mansions. The theme at POFQ is much brighter and has more of a New Orleans flavor.
9) Music: we like the music at both. We really enjoyed listening to the old style jazz while sitting outside the POFQ food court at night. But then, POR has Bob "The Piano Man" Jackson at the River Roost Lounge!

This is really a tough choice! I can't decide! I wish I had that problem, though. Have fun. You can't go wrong with either resort.
Here are our photos of both:

I agree with MiJo. It is a tough decision but the theme and the size of the FQ always wins out for me!

Something else to consider is that POFQ has elevators and at POR last month we couldn't find one. We asked a housekeeper and were told there was no elevator and did see them carrying towels from a cart on the lower level to a cart on the upper level. So unless they were just broken... you have to carry your luggage up a flight of stairs.

This didn't bother us too much but if you were not able to walk stairs very well you would really need to ensure a lower level room.

We prefer POFQ. We have stayed at both and enjoy POFQ because it is smaller. Easy walk to the food court. Being the first on and first off the buses was nice also.

French Quarter hands down I stayed at both and there are less people to deal with at the french quarter and way less walking. The scenery is good at both resorts but I prefer the fq.

Why not try FQ just because you haven't stayed there before? We also love both resorts but prefer FQ because of its small size. Also, they are sister resorts so you can use the amenities at POR while at FQ if you choose to do so. When all is said and done, you may end up prefering POR, but I don't think you will dislike POFQ.
