We have never stayed at either, and I am seriously considering changing from AoA to one of these. Can anyone tell me what is better/different between POR/POFQ. I know POFQ is smaller, and has 2 queen beds. Does POR also have queen, or are they doubles? Anything else in particular you do (or don't) like in one vs. the other?

Personally we like POFQ for the size and queen beds. Just our choice but that's where we plan on staying again next time.

We loved POR when we stayed there in 2008. It is a large resort but it is beautiful and the pool and food court are both nice. I believe the royal rooms have queen beds and a nice decor if you want something new. Don't know when the AB or Mansion sections had the last refurb. That all being said we are going to give POFQ a try in 2013 simply for it's smaller size. From all that I have read people seem to think both are great.

I've stayed at POFQ and visited POR while I was there.

The advantages of POFQ are that it is smaller and has only 1 bus stop. Also, we were always picked up and dropped off first. Going to the parks, we always got a seat on the bus. There were a few times that we actually bypassed the last stop at POR because there were too many people on the bus.

The advantages to POR is that it has a full-service restaurant and there are multiple types of rooms to choose from (Magnolia Bend, Alligator Bayou, or the royal rooms located within Magnolia Bend).

Both resorts are nice and I would highly recommend them. It just depends on what's the most important to you as far as which one you choose.

POR and POFQ both have queen beds. POR has been recently renovated. In fact, renovations are still occurring in some parts of the resort. FWIW, I stayed there last year during the height of the renovation and it was never an issue.

Personally, I prefer POR over POFQ. POR has the best food court on property IMO and we use it frequently. I also love the quiet pools at POR. I actually like the fact that POR is large because with it being so spread out, it never feels crowded. We go during the Fall when its slow, and sometimes we feel like the only people at the resort! Last trip, we visit POFQ for breakfast and the food court was very small and there were no open tables. We had to eat in the lounge. We also did not love the pool theme. Lastly, we thought the one bus stop at POFQ got very crowded quickly, and then everyone did a mad dash when the bus pulled up since there was no formal line. That morning just turned me off and made me appreciate POR more.

We stayed at POFQ in 2009 & enjoyed it. Very pretty. I tried to get a room this past June for POR but could not get it for our dates (went with CBR & we enjoy that resort too; we always receive our request at CBR). We are returning in June 2014 or 2015 & I will try to stay at POR. When we did visit POFQ in 2009 we went over to POR for the food court & pool one day. I think POR looks like it can be "light deluxe" but that is just my opinion. I think it is very pretty with the landscape.pixiedust:

We enjoy the small feel of POFQ and the overall theme better. But we always end up taking the boat up to POR to use the pool or eat.

We've stayed at both. I like the overall theme at POR better than POFQ. When we stayed at POR we lucked out and were in the building closest to the food court, so that was nice. We are a family of 5 and I loved that we could find tables for 5. We end up dragging a chair up to a table for 4 at a lot of QS places. We had a great experience at Boatwrights on our visit to POR. We stayed there during value season and it did not seem crowded at all. However, we did stand on every bus ride home.

I had a business trip in Orlando last March and dh tagged along. We spent a weekend at POFQ and we loved the size of the resort. Our building was way in back, but it was just a couple of minutes walk to the food court. The weekend we were there was considered peek season, but the buses were never crowded. We never had to stand on the buses. One dad stood on a trip back so he could be next to his family, however there were more empty seats in back. The resort never seemed crowded. We could walk from our building to the main building and literally not see anyone until we walked into the main building.

If dh and I have the opportunity to go to WDW alone we will stay at POFQ and visit POR.
