OK, this is our first trip staying at a mod and I am still torn as to which resort would be better. I know there are lovers and haters of probably every resort but I would really like to hear from anyone that has stayed at both.

How does the bus service compare at each (we are used to POP with it's centralized bus location)

How do the pools compare (We have 2 kids 8 &10)

TIA!!

POR right now is top favorite with many visitors because it is being renovated at this time. It is very pretty. We tried to book(back in Dec.) for our upcoming June trip but it was not available for our week. We are staying at CBR with our 11 yr old DS. We stayed at CBR in June 2007 & loved it  Most of the reviews of CBR will be how large the resort is. But if a family is active & have no issues walking then that is not even an issue. We try to request a building in Jamaica. Never had issues with the buses. We love the music & tropical feel of CBR. Our DS is really looking forward to CBR's main pool. The more favorable reviews will lean towards POR but CBR is just as much fun & nice too:wizard:

I've been to both,CBR is pretty, but sort of 'way out there' in terms of location...(but Pop is WAY out there anyway,so if you didn't mind that, it shouldn;t be a problem) I like The POR location, you can do boats to DTD,etc....makes for a nice change of pace if you like a calmer feel,IMO. :thumbsup2

We have stayed @ CBR a few times before and really enjoy it. We love the Caribbean atmosphere, music, landscaping, beaches, pool area is awesome, nice gift shop. The rooms are a good size, clean and well kept during our stays. The resort is large, but we like that about the resort b/c feels less crowded and the walks arent bad, last May we stayed in the futherest rooms in Trinadad South and the walk was 6-8 min to the main area. Bus transportation has always been good, never waited more then 10 minutes for a bus. The buses do stop @ each island so to do the whole circle is probally an extra 10 minutes tops. The futherest park is MK which is about a 15 min bus ride, all others are about 5-10 minutes.

We have stayed at both and while CBR is a beautiful resort, Riverside will get my vote every single time. They just have so much more to offer IMO. With the boat to DTD and Bob the piano guy, those two things alone are worth the stay. I love the setting there too and the kids like the pool.

Our problem with CBR was that we were so far from the food court and with younger children that made it hard. I fussed about it every single day! To avoid that problem, I would suggest getting a preferred room at both of these resorts if you plan to frequent the food court. It will be worth it.

I've stayed at both resorts and my personal preference is POR. Actually I didn't care for CBR at all. I felt that CBR was layed out very awkwardly and I found it hard to get around. Both are large resorts, but I found POR layout to be easier to navigate and I liked the theming better. Also, I think POR has the best food court on property. CBR pool is better than POR, but POR does have a decent pool. Also, your kids would love Yehaa Bob in the lounge at night. My recommendation is POR.

We like all the Mods but give the edge to POR over CBR.
Queen beds vs full
Yeeha Bob
Boat to DTD
Food court; Omelette bar for breakfast and Pasta bar for lunch and dinner
You can use POFQ pool, FC and shops.

We booked at PoR once a standard room came available for Our FD dates. We choose it for everything else pp listed above.. I wanted a royal room but the cost was 900.00 more than our pop reservation. The standard room was only 400.00 more.

IMO - bus service can be good or bad at any resort on any given day. I don't think there's one resort who consistently has a leg up over another. So bus service is based on opinion.

As for pools, I can't speak to CBR, but I wasn't really impressed with the POR main pool. In September, it was difficult to find a seat and there was good amounts of shade which I don't like at the pool. We spent a lot of time at a quiet pool which was fine, but it wasn't as nice as the quiet pool sat CSR.

I do love the boat to DTD at POR. It makes the thought of going to DTD exciting rather than aggravating considering how few and far between DTD buses are from other resorts. I also think POR has the best food court on property. Plus it is recently refurbished (CBR looks as though it needs a refurb) and they also have two Queen beds vs. CBR's two double beds, which would be important to me.
