POR Trip report

We just got back from a 10 day POR Disney vaction We did not want to leave! I'll start with ME, this was the first time we used it and it was wonderful. We arrived at Orlando airport at 10:30 am waited 15 min for the ME bus which took us right to POR. POR was beautiful, this is our 2nd time staying. We waited maybe 15-20 mins to check in. We asked for Magnolia Terrace water view and got it, a beautiful corner room overlooking the quiet pool and a 5 min walk to the main pool and food area.
We headed to DTD on the boat and by the time we returned our luggage was waiting in our room like magic!
Ok, regarding the buses, the last time we were at this resort 3 yrs ago, by the end of our trip if I didn't see another bus it would be great! This time, I don't know if they've been reading these boards but we didn't wait for any bus! The buses were great! I think we may of stood on one bus the whole time, they were quick and effecient. I have no complaints! This Sat. they had 4 MK buses at the bus stop waiting to load.
The food court was good, I enjoyed the new create your own pasta and salad. I must say stay far away in the morning around 9am, it was crazy I've never seen anything like it. But the breakfast was very good, just a lot of people!
We ate Boatwrights for dinner one night and I have to say it was one of our best dinners, great food and service.
Parks, if we waited 10mins for a ride that was long, I couldn't believe it The safari ride and test track we waited the longest and that was maybe 30-40 mins, those were the only rides, most rides we just walked on, awesome! We met alot of nice people at the resort, staff was nice, I can't say enough

We were at POR a few weeks ago for our first trip at that resort! We loved it as well ! My new favorite!!! I agree with the busses! We had NO problems!! We were by the West depot and never had to stand or wait more than 15-20 minutes for a bus! I loved the make your own salad also. Awesome! Resort was beautiful too. I didn't want to leave either! We will definitely return to POR!!!

Glad to hear you had a great time! DH and I leave in two days for POR for our sixth stay!! Obviously we love it! Did you get to see Bob Jackson when you were there? Did you have an ADR for Boatwright's? Just wondering how crowded it was since we did not make an ADR but might want to eat there one evening.

Yes we saw Bob and he was great! We did not have an ADR for Boatwrights, my DH walked over to see if we could get in the same night, no problem, 6:40 pm for 7. We did this for a few restaurants.

Just curious since you recently got back from this resort, is there internet access in each room or is there a main place for internet access? We have stayed there before, but now my DH is thinking about taking an internet class during the time we are planning to go and is required to have a weekly "meeting" in the class. Do you know about the internet access, wireless or needing a cable to use?

Our fisrt on site stay was at POR and we loved it! We also had no problems with the buses and this was March 2005. Had more problems with buses on a later trip at CBR.

I'm not sure about the rooms, but I'm sure I saw people pluged in to posts around the resort, or maybe I'm mistaken and it was at the parks, sorry not much help

Yes, we saw Bob when we were there! My DS7 LOVED him!!! We went to see him two nights in a row on his request! Bob really gets the kids involved with the show and gets everyones name before he starts the show. He is AWESOME!!! Boatwrights was good too. Went for breakfast and had their banana stuffed french toast. WONDERFUL!!!!

Each room is equipped with wired access and it's $10 for 24 hours of use.

Also, did you take a bus to EPCOT in the morning? My hubby is a late riser and I'm an early riser, and I want to ride Soarin while he's still in bed, since he won't (or SAYS he won't ride it. So I'm wondering about taking the bus by myself one morning for EMH, and I wondered if it's a hassle or not.

The weather was great! Not a cloud in the sky for 9 days. Low 80's in the day (hot in the sun but cool in the shade) chilly at night, we needed sweat shirts. I guess a cold front had come in during our stay but to me the weather was great. Bring a sweat shirt and long pants for night although I always had shorts on.
We went to Epcot on Friday around 10am, no problem catching the bus and maybe waited 20 mins for soaring, we didn't bother with a fastpass, we didn't use a fastpass our entire trip!

Just wondering if you used Ol' Man Island pool. Curious as to how deep the pool was and how deep the water was by the slide exit. I know weird question but DS8 likes to be able to touch after the slide. Thanks in advance.

We've stayed at POR (then DL) two times and we loved Boatwrights. I think we always had the prime rib and I remember loving the salad dressing onour salads. Not sure what kind it was but it was great!

I think its 3-4 feet around the slide our friends 5 yr could touch on her tippy toes. Around the other side under the water fall going towards the bar it was deeper, my tall 10yr old had a hard time touching.

DH and I always swam in the quiet pool near our room before we had kids so I had no idea. Thanks for the info. DS8 will be happy!
