POR Trip report

Hi, thanks for the recent update. We stayed at POR in 2005 and will be there again in one week

I can't remember if there was an iron in the room. I checked on line and saw photos of any ironing board, but there was no mention of the iron?? Probably won't use it, but it is nice to know if it there.

Also, I think there was a hair dryer, too??? That would be one less think to pack.

Thanks if you can confirm any of these items.:thanks:

This might not be the right place to ask, but I have heard so much about the Bob show and I need more info on it. Is this a dinner show? Do we need ADR's? We already have everything booked for our week, but from the way everyone has been talking on here, it seems like I don't want to miss this.

Yes there is an iron, ironing board, hair dryer, coffee maker and refrigerator in each room. We leave in 5 days, cannot wait!

Bob is a lot of fun, you do not need a ressie. He is in the bar, can't remember what nights. Just grab a chair early!

Can't wait...just a few more days til POR ! We "love" this resort too! Haven't seen Bob yet, but we are definitely going to make it a point this time. I can't wait to see all the Christmas decor. I'm sure POR is awesome at Christmas! We are going to try and see as many resorts as possible. I hear everything is just so beautiful in WDW at Christmas. I'm finally getting to fulfill another one of my dreams:love:
Thanks for the report, it made me even more excited about going!
Happy Holidays to everyone!:santa:

I am so excited!!!!!! This will be our first trip to WDW and we chose POR because we are a family of 5 with three little ones...
Thank you for your report!!!!

sO HAPPY TO HEAR THE GREAT REPORT... WE LEAVE IN 3WKS AND A DAY... THIS WILL BE OUR FIRST STAY AT por, LAST YR WE WERE AT FQ... :santa:

We didn't care for POR. The shared buses with POFQ was a nightmare. With strollers and a small children, waiting through cycles of people to fighting to get on the bus was crazy.

POR is such a great resort. The settings, the staff and pool area is just special.

The buses work out fine. Disney keeps adding more as it gets busier during the peak times. We stayed there in April 07 and was fine.

The new food court was also a hit for us. The arcade was great for the kids and we liked being able to share POFQ pool.

Sorry to hear, we didn't have any of these problems during our stay. We had a party of 7 and the youngest was 5 and no strollers. I could see where very small children and strollers would be difficult.

We loved POR, what a Beautiful Resort.
Really loved the FC with the Create your own Pasta.
Now, once a Week I recreate the Make your Own Pasta
at home, using the same ingredents and my DS (11 yrs.)
calls it "Port Orleans Pasta". :thumbsup2

Thank you for the report! Do the buses still share with POFQ?

Has anyone used the laundry facilities at POR? Just wondering...
Thanks!

Yes, They are next to the Quite pools.
Washing cost $2.00 a load.
Drying cost $2.00 a Load.

I bring a pouch with my own Quarters (change machine is usually empty).

I also bring my own Concentrated Liquid Detergent like ALL HQ
(you will use only 2 tblsps. for a load with the concentrated--I carry it in a small
travel bottle along with a Tablespoon for measuring) Put all these in a sealed ziploc bag
so it won't spill and tape the bottle cap down).

Don't forget your own Dryer Sheets.

You can buy detergent at the landry area but if your
family has allergies to perfume and dyes like mine then
I would bring my own (plus its cheaper to bring your own).

My husband & I are planning a trip for Nov. of 2008. The 9th - 21st. We will be staying at POR. Can you please tell me if the hotel was decorated for Christmas yet? Do they have MVMCP yet? Is MK decorated yet? EPCOT decorated? Other resorts decorated? Or we were also thinking of going last 2 weeks of October. If we are going to miss holiday decorations in Nov. we might rethink about going in Oct. instead. Is weather better in Oct.? How about crowds? Not sure what to do:confused3 Thank you for any input I can be given:love:

Dumb question...did anyone drink the water from the faucets in the hotel room? I usually go to the store and buy a bunch of bottled water on vacations. But we won't have a car this time so I'm going to have to drink from the tap. Does it taste okay or is it gross?

Everyone keeps talking about the create your own salads and pasta thing. Anyone know where I can find out what all you can put on your pasta and salad there?

Are there plenty of ice machines nearby the rooms at POR?
