I am VERY sensitive to cigarette smoke, and have read a few times that por mansion is a smoking hotel with some non-smoking rooms. However some say that even though their room was non-smoking, they could smell smoke. Do they have non-smoking halls or floors? Living in a room/hall reaking of smoke could easily ruin our trip. Has anyone had this problem?

Hi,

There are no interior halls at POR. All the buildings are designated as either totally non-smoking, smoking or "smoking optional". In the mansions, I know Oak Manor is smoking optional. I'm not sure what the "optional" means, but when I stayed there, there was a lot of smoking going on. Our room had a "no smoking" sign on the outside of the door, as did all the others, but the CM at check-in said it was smoking. I definitely wouldn't stay there if you can't stand smoke.

Two of the mansion buildings are totally non-smoking, but I can't remember which two. I'm sure someone will chime in.

great, thanks, hoping someone will let me know the non-smoking buildings.

Magnolia Terrace for sure is a non-smoking building--we stayed there in July. Although all hotels can designate certain non-smoking rooms (or in this case, buildings) some people don't play nice and disobey the rules anyway. If your room smells smoky just request another one--the CM's will be happy to accommodate you till they get it right. Have a great trip--you'll love this resort! :earsgirl:

I am VERY sensitive to cigarette smoke,
Be sure and mention this (especially if you didn't at time of making reservation) when you make your room request. ~:D~
