Please help me out if you've stayed at POR recently. I have a March reservation there and lately have been reading some bad reviews of this resort. So now I'm questioning my decision to stay there.

We have always stayed at deluxe resorts in the past, most recently AKL, BWI and YC. This March trip is just for a short 3 nights; kind of a spur of the moment thing. So I didn't really want to spend a great deal on a hotel room and thought I'd try out a mod. Did I make a bad decision ~ will I be disappointed at POR?

I guess I haven't seen those bad reviews. We were there in June and it is a very nice place. I'm sure I will stay there again.

We stayed at POR November 2003 and LOVED it. Our room was in Oak Manor. We have NO complaints about POR.

We will be staying there again next month.....oh, and just about all the rooms have been recently renovated.

We have stayed at POR in the mansions twice and we stayed in the FQ once and loved both. We would definitely stay at either again. I'd like to try the AB section on our next trip. Both resorts are beautiful. I think you'll love it.

Here is my review from Nov. and we just booked there again for June!

Well, we just got back from 9 days 8 nights at POR and I must say I have a favorite resort! This place was superb, and I mean it !

We were in the mansions, Partiere Place, bottom floor, corner room (2 windows). Housekeeping was great, the room was just renovated and was really lovely, the walk to the bus was about 7 minutes strolling, the quiet pool was about 5 minutes strolling, and the big pool was about 10 minutes strolling. The grounds were immaculate and very pretty.

I always heard about people having a favorite resort on these boards and we have stayed at several, but up to now none really grabbed me (except for the Swan )BUT now, I too have a favorite and it is most definately POR. Any questions pleas ask, I will be happy to answer...

We stayed at POR in the mansion section for 6 nights back in December 2004. The rooms were clean and the resort was great. The only complaint I had was that I did have to call 2 times to get bed rails for my son. Other than that, the resort was great. I say keep your reservations at POR. We had a blast.

Just visited POR - Magnolia Bend last month (Feb. 4-6), specifically at Acadian House. We were satisfied with our room, with a few very minor things noted.

We were able to check in at 9:30 am (very happy about that!), but noticed (of course, after unpacking EVERYTHING) that the carpet was damp. I did the smell test (eewww! but hey, I'm a mom), but determined that they had just cleaned it. I was somewhat worried about it getting dry, but we left to do other things and as I hoped, when we returned later it was dry. Duh, I guess that's why the air was full blast when we first got in! I reasoned that they have to clean it at some point and we DID check in early. So, no biggie.

After a day or so, I noticed that the shelving could use a good dusting. We had stored things above the bench and on the shelf in the bath. Also the shower head could have been a little cleaner - looked like some mineral buildup. The in-room coffee maker - it took 30 min to brew a 4-cup pot, minus 1/2 cup of water (where did it go? a mystery!) Again, probably mineral buildup (but this seems to happen at hotels we stay everywhere- i'm going to start bringing a .39 bottle of white vinegar with me on vacation! No kidding! We already bring our own favorite Community coffee!)

Did I report these things? No, I meant to, but you know how it is when you get home.... and they didn't leave comment cards, which I thought was unusual. Would have made it easier to provide feedback. I think customer feedback is very important, so mgmt can address these minor issues with staff. (Note: It seemed VERY important to Disney Cruise Line - we had just gotten off the Wonder and had multiple friendly reminders from CM's to PLEASE fill out our comment cards!)

Would I stay again? Definitely! The resort is, I guess, about 15 years old now? But I think it's a pretty nice RESORT for the price, especially if you compare with other resort area accomodations outside Orlando or Las Vegas. Even in Orlando, I think its a great value. You're getting way more than a hotel room. There's a full service restaurant, a fast food option, pizza delivery, very nice pool (multiple) areas, pool bar, bike & boat rental, fishing, carriage rides, free on-property transportation and not to mention, some of the best family entertainment in the world!!

Have fun! I'm sad... writing this makes me want to go back....

Thank you ~ you've all made me feel much better about my stay there :)
I am leaning towards requesting the mansions side ... it sounds as if it's more to my taste, although the pics I've seen of AB side rooms also look nice.
Does anyone know if they have finished renovating all the rooms or should I put in a request for one of those?

thanks again to all :flower:

Not sure about renovations being completed, although I think it started quite a while ago. You should probably call the resort direct. Resort phone number should be available at allears.com.

Have a great trip!

Just don't expect deluxe and you probaly won't be too disappointed. POR and POFQ are fine. The rooms are small and you can't keep your curtains open with all the people walking by, by the decor is OK.

The mansions were all renovated last year and all have refrigerators in the rooms. Last I heard they were still renovating AB, but it might be completed by now. Someone else may have more info on this.

I posted this on another thread as well. Help! Now I'm totally confused. I just called the hotel and they said no rooms are available that fit our needs in Magnolia Terrace and special needs made a mistake. They also said building 95 Pateree Place has our room but it is a water view which is more money. Adding to my confusion they said THIS is the building that is closest to the bridge and everything else! EXPERTS HELP! How far is this building. please give me as much info as you have. Thanks.

I stayed at POR last May, and I really liked it. My friend and I were in Oak Manor, which I think was a great location. Make sure you go on the boat ride to DTD. We did it one morning. We got breakfast at the food court and took it on the boat and ate. We didn't even get off at DTD, just rode roundtrip, but it was a relaxing, scenic trip.

I stayed at CSR in November, and I didn't like it as much as POR. It was just too overwhelming big, I thought. But POR was great. I want to try other resorts, too, but I definitely plan to go back to POR.

Don't fret! I have stayed in Parterre Place 3X and love the location. I do request to be on the quiet pool side of the building, which is just steps away from the bridge that goes to main building. Even the furthest side of PP is just a bit of a walk. It's less of a walk than alot of the AB section, IMO. I'm not sure which is building 95, but this building really isn't that far from the bridge. The building is recently renovated and the beds are heavenly!

Snoozan- Thanks for the advice. They say it has a water view, but I don't know if that is a front of the building view or what. Are there more than 1 part to Parterre Place. Also, if its close to the bridge by the main building does that include the food court etc. How far to Ole' man pool and whats the shortest route. boy, am i geeting nuts over this or what.
