Which rooms are better, nicer, better location etc at POR? Royal Rooms or Preferred rooms?

I personally prefer the RRs. We stay there most of the time, and they are so beautiful and well themed. Those rooms aren't that far from the main buildings, either. Plus, we will sometimes walk over to POFQ and the RRs are closer to there (we'll also use FQ's transportation occasionally)

Do you know if the RR are the same size as the preferred rooms?

There isn't one that is necessarily better, it's truly matter of opinion. We have stayed in the alligator bayou rooms and the royal rooms, preferred both and regular rooms and to be honest, there were pros and cons of both the preferred and regular locations. I liked the styling of the royal rooms better as well as the overall appearance of the exterior of the resort but I preferred the location of the AB rooms (non preferred, garden view room) since we were located closer to the first bus stop at POR. If you are in the royal rooms the bus stops that are closest are the second to last bus stop and lobby stop, cons with those is that some times those buses would be full, too full to even get on. I didn't mind our walk to the main lobby either for regular rooms, it's not that far. We've only stayed preferred when we were upgraded at check in, I wouldn't pay for it. However, if walking or mobility were a consideration; I would opt for a preferred, first floor room.

We stayed in a royal room last week and loved it. It was a short walk to the lobby and buses. FQ took about 8 minutes walking along the water. My 5 year old niece cried when the headboard lit up.

I love the Royal rooms, but I'm not a big fan of the mansions. I'd prefer a preferred room in the AB section.

Seems so odd that the Royal rooms would be the last stop based on the increased cost of the rooms.

Not odd, really. Alligator Bayou rooms were always/already themed, a bit rusticly.
Alligator Bayou, especially tne now-Preferred rooms, have always been more requested
We drive on the right.
Bus doors open on the right.B
simple logistics.

I understand that. I just find it odd they placed the royal rooms at the end of the bus route. I think Royal, I think preferred or luxury, which would not be the last stop on the bus loop.

They're not at the end, though. The North Depot is at the west corner of Acadian House, and the East Depot is at the corner of Magnolia Terrace closest to Oak Manor. Okay, so Parterre Place is most convenient to the South Depot - but then, so are the Preferred buildings of Alligator Bayou. So, yeah, most of the people who pay for premium rooms would generally use the last bus stop, but the bus routing is designed to operate in the most efficient manner.

Am I understanding this correctly, are the preferred rooms of AB the first stop?

No.
Bus pulls into resort.
Bus turns left onto internal perimeter road.
Bus drives to West Depot (closest to remote/standard Alligator Bayou section.)
Bus stops at West Dept.
Bus proceeds to North Depot (closest to Acadian House/standard Magnoloia Terrace.)
Bus stops at North Depot.
Bus proceeds to East Depot (corner of Magnolia Bend/standard, adjacent to Oak Manor/Royal.)
Bus stops at East Depot.
Bus proceeds toward exit, turns right onto driveway leading to lobby, drives around parking area to South Depot (closest to Parterre Place/Royal pand Alligator Bayou preferred.)
Bus stops at East Depot.
Bus exits resort.

Oh wow. Ok, so the last stop is for preferred and Royal rooms. So strange!
