Hi all,

I had gone online to book a preferred room for December and it looks like it sold out already :( as it says unavailable. I figured, the next best bet would be a Royal Room. Of those who have stayed in the royal rooms, which is the best building to request. I've read that some of these rooms are far out. I'm looking to be as close to main lobby/food court as possible, somewhat as close as one of the preferred rooms. Thanks.

I would word your request just like that.

We had a great location in Oak Manor. Very close to the foot bridge. We had a GV room and I requested to be close to foot bridge. We had a room facing the riverside courtyard by the fountain. Loved it.

We always request and then fax the following: 1) Room near foot bridge 2) Oak Manor 3) floor
Now if you have a standard view room, you still may be on the back of the building and I definitely would want Oak Manor.

Thanks all. So I'm assuming that in order to be in a closer Oak Manor room, I'd have to book the most expensive category Royal Room with River or Pool View and not the standard or garden?

The distance from the front of the Manor (water/river view) to the back (garden/parking lot view) is not that big. I'd reserve what you like to and possibly get a better view upon check-in, which is always possible.

We booked River View, Royal Room and requested Oak Manor close to the foot bridge. It was great! As a bonus we were just a few steps from the quiet pool which my DD enjoyed. On our previous stay we were in a preferred room in the bayou section.

I always request building 90, Oak Manor on the river side of the building. I usually always book garden view (pool and river view aren't really worth the extra cost to me), and my room was literally a few minute walk to the main building each time. This past November, I booked garden view and they actually assigned me a room that was pool view and was steps away from the foot bridge - so the little upgrade was nice and had a corner room in my favorite building. It is a very short walk. Booking garden view will be great location wise, if you request building 90 and being on the river side of the building and not the parking lot side.

We were in #9090 Oak Manor. 1st floor. It was on the pool side of the building, but I don't think it was considered a pool view because it was more in the corner of the hallway. I didn't pay for pool view room either. Like others have said...it was super easy to get to the food court. We simply walked around the pool, took a few steps on a walkway and then across the bridge.

We had stayed several times in the Alligator Bayou section of POR prior to our last trip. I was ready to try a different resort, but my youngest wanted to stay in a Royal Room. I am so glad we did! We really enjoyed it!

I hope you have a great time!

We were in oak manor first but were moved to parterre place because of an air condition problem.

We loved parterre place better than oak manor.

I've been wondering this myself. My concern is that Paterre Place is really far from the East Depot and the Food Court. I don't mind walking 5 minutes or so. But is it really far away from everything? I'm not sure if I should request a certain building or just leave it up to chance!

Depending on where you are located in Oak, you may be closer to the south depot anyways. I would request to be close to the footbridge, then it doesn't really matter which building you're in. We were much closer to the footbridge in Parterre place, then in our room in Oak. It was an easy walk over the bridge to the food court and south depot.

Thanks. Can I ask you, what did you prefer, the preferred room in AB or the Royal Room in Oak?

Not at all. They Oak Manir has GV rooms in riverside area of courtyard. We had a GV room in riverside inner courtyard facing the fountain. Great location. All the standard view rooms would be in the parking lot side I think.

It depends what end of Parterre you are in. I felt we were far away from everything, we were in the very end almost in POFQ! It was my least fav location, and far from main pool. I prefer East Depot over the crowded South Depot and it was far from East Depot too.

We have never stayed in a preferred room in the AB section. Once we were in building #37, and I felt that it was too far from the food court.

Maybe that is one of the reasons why I liked Oak Manor so much...the ease of getting to the lobby and food court, in addition to feeling like a princess!

I was hoping to use the East Depot because it is less crowded and gets picked up before South Depot so I think I might be leaning towards Oak Manor. Some people say Paterre is really beautiful and some say its just so far away from everything.

What did you think about the South Depot? I was thinking that I might use East because it gets picked up sooner and I don't want to miss a bus and have to wait for another bus.

The south depot got quite crowded at times, but we always used it because we like to stop at the food court before we board a bus and grab a drink or snack to go.
