I'm always looking for ways to make our trips a little different. One night we're going to DTD to shop around and we're just going to eat cheap & easy. We're staying at BCV so I thought we might catch the boat to DHS and take the bus to POR to eat at the food court. I'm sure it's nothing spectacular, but my DD is very picky and I think she'll find something there she likes. Plus I think it's so pretty, it would be nice to look around. After supper, we could catch the boat to DTD for our shopping.

Give me your advice. Is that too much effort for all of that? Is the food court worth it?

TIA!

To me, food court at POR is not worth it. I would wait until DTD and eat at Wolfgang Puck Express or Earl of Sandwich. Now the lounge at POR is worth a stop if the piano man is there performing. That was great fun for the whole family. The food court is the basic burgers, chicken strips, pizza, pasta bar, salad. I did not care for it much when we were there last summer.

It's certainly worth going just for the boat ride, particuarly later in the day / early in the evening. I certainly dont think its worth going to POR just to eat but if you are going to be there anyway to get the boat, then it will certainly do the job for the picky eaters and its a lovely area just to wander around :thumbsup2

DH and I have stayed at POR twice and we loved the food court while we stayed there, but I can't say that I would go out of my way to eat there if I wasn't staying there. I second going to Earl of Sandwhich at DTD. Even if your DD is picky they have your basic grilled cheese and PB&J. And they have some preety good choices for the adults too. And there's always the possability of dessert at Ghirardelli.

WONDERFUL create you own pasta station...and you get so much it is possible for two people to share. All ingredients are fresh and delicious! Worth the trip, in my opinion. have fun!

POR has the best food court on Disney property. They just updated it about a year ago.

They have a build your own pasta & salad areas.
We like the Carving station. You have your choice of beef or turkey, choice of two vegis and a corn muffin. For disney this is a deal at $10 and very good.
Check out the menu at : http://www.allearsnet.com/menu/men-ccld.htm

we just stayed there, and we didn't eat there much. There did seem to be something for everyone tho and I did try the BEST cookie snack type thing..

It's called the MAGIC COOKIE BAR!!!! this is soo good, if you go there you MUST try this!

POR have a great food court, I would try it at least once. Like others have said, the pasta station is really great!

If you are going to take the boat and/or be at POR after dark, then my vote is YES! We stayed at POR and enjoyed the atmosphere of the food court. But the grounds are really nice at night, with the lights on the water and the across the bridge! And the boat ride from DTD is very nice, esp. at night.

.

The food court at POR is fantastic. There is something for everyone. Some of the cashiers and people who dish out the food aren't the quickest people but I think this is Disney-wide at CS restaurants, not just at Riverside Food Court. We were exploring the food court at WL and found it to be quite small and didn't offer a large selection of food. You will enjoy the boat ride from DTD to POR. It is very scenic and relaxing. You can't beat the price of the boat either! :rotfl2: Free things are the BEST!

we absoluty loved the por food court. out of 9 days, we ate meals there. this is another vote for the pasta bar...it was great and definatly enough for 2 people my dh is not going with me on my trip in 16 days, and when i asked him what he wanted as a souvenier, and all he said was the apple pie from the foodcourt. i am going to pick it up right before ig et on the ME bus and hopefully it stays intact for the ride home. what is the cookie another poster was talking about...i don't remember that.

It is over in the bakery section, it is a chocolate cookie bar with chocolate chips, butterscooth chips and something else I think, it is sooo good and big enough to share also, It was like $ 3. something...

Yummo!!!

I gotta comment here. We stayed at the POLY for a few days before transferring over (it was planned that way) to POR. The POR food court had the best food Id eaten the whole trip. How many times do you go back and buy a SECOND dinner because it was so good? Well, I did with the roast and mashed potatoes and veggies. Delicious.

We pop all over for a special sandwich or meal. We most always stay at WL and do bus over to POFQ for a meatball sandwich and spaghetti, reasonably priced and good, we then take the boat to DTD and see a movie. Scat Cat Club at POFQ has some good entertainment. We boat to FW just for a pizza or piece of chicken. Most of the mods and values have huge food courts and many selections you don't get at the deluxes and we're not signature restaurant dining people, Disney's prices are ridiculous and we enjoy sandwiches mostly. We also don't like sitting in a deluxe restaurant for 90 minutes either, grab and go, it its hot, its good. We have favorite meals all over Disney property and we enjoy busing to get them, wander around alittle and going back to the WL.

Another vote for POR CS we really enjoy the choices.
I loved the Create your own Pasta and really liked the
Fried Fish Basket. We were on the DDP and were able
to get a credit for the Icecream sunday when checking out
(so that I could go back after eating and icecream wouldn't
melt--very good!--it could be used right after eating are
whenever you're really--maybe after walking the grounds).

I personally enjoy the boat ride between DTD and POR better than some of the rides at the parks. POR is also my favorite resort. I think your picky eater will have plenty to choose from at the food court and you should find tasty basic food there too. I have never had a complaint myself !

For another adventure you might want to try the buffet at FW (Trail's End) sometime. Plenty there for kids to pick from and nice to walk around some of the grounds too. We head here for a meal about every trip.

Thanks for all the great advice everyone! We ate there about 8 years ago and I remember enjoying the grounds. I think the boat ride will be fun and a lot more exciting than a bus ride!!

We LOVE the Food Court at POR (in our opinion, the best one on Disney property). When we don't stay at POR, we always schedule a trip there for lunch as we think the food is great and the atmosphere at POR is great!!! If you enjoy salad, their salad station is the best!! I don't think you will be disappointed. :thumbsup2
