POR-POFQ Bus Question

We are booking a return trip to WDW (just got back from 29 Aug - 04 Sept trip) and are wanting to stay at POR. DH asked me a bus question, and I couldn't answer it confidently, so I'm asking my DIS friends to help me out...
Is there one bus (figuritively) that services POR and POFQ (say we wanna go to MK, is our MK bus that we catch at POR also going to stop at POFQ and vice versa) or are they separate resort busses?

Same bus. All resorts on bus transportan have routes ie: mk stop at fq 1st then stop at rs and do all the stops at each resort. Now Port Orleans bus mk only goes fq/rs/mk and another bus does fq/rs/epcot, another bus fq/rs/mgm etc....

Even deluxe resorts example yacht club on bus route to mk, sister resorts and bus routes: swan/dolphin/yc/bc/bw/mk etc.....

Now in VERY busy times, opening of parks, etc... summer it is not unusual to have 1 bus pick up fq and fill up, so then another bus is sent out immediately and goes to rs skipping the fq stop so that the people who were waiting longer get on immediately, and then makes the stops till fills up and off to mk.

When we stayed at the mansions in rs we prefered at park opening to walk to main entrance to get on 1st bus! cause mansions are last stop and usually where skipped cause of filled up buses, Also at RS we had a waterview room of the canal so we were in oak manor and near bridge and close to old man isle, thus as far to walk to main bus stop as to walk out to parking lot bus stop the mansion building are very deep and quiet a walk.

It's hard to answer your question with a definete answer, because Disney Transport is very dynamic.

In the morning... Port Orleans uses MOD... Magic on Demand. Busses are staged in a parking lot within the resort. From there, busses are dispatched on a demand basis. An example, on a busy day, the dispatcher might send one bus to FQ, one bus to RS South Depot, and a third bus to cover West, North, & East depots, with all three busses covering the MK. Because DAK usually has less of a demand, they might then send one bus to FQ, and one bus for all of Riverside for DAK. Routing is adjusted dynamically by demand.

At around 11:00, areas start to convert to FLEX Dispatch. This is simmilar to set routes, but routes are assigned as the bus comes into the hub. This allows for flexibility in dispatching. Typically, the MK splits up FQ and RS... however, due to an upcoming construction project at the MK, they may be combined at any given moment. All other locations do combine the busses.

Please note that when a bus gets to Riverside, some busses start with the West Depot, others start with the South Depot.

Thanks, Chip, for clearing that up for me. Now I'm wondering if the entire "round trip" duration is comparable to the time it takes to make the entire round at CBR (which is where we stayed a couple of weeks ago). Just wondering if we can know what to expect in terms of timing. Thank you!

By round trip, do you mean the time it takes to stop at all the stops at POFQ and POR? If so, it does take a little less time. There are only 5 stops, compared to the 7 at CBR. It also seems like the resorts are a little less spread out, so there's not quite as much driving between stops, but I've never measured it, so that's just a guess.

To do the entire loop at CBR takes less than 10 minutes... if that... the complete cycle time from Studios to CBR and back is 22 minutes, and MK is 32 minutes.

Port Orleans has 2 less stops, but is more spread out. However, it still takes less than 10 minutes for the complete internal cycle.
