-Do both POR and POFQ offer boat rides to DTD?
-And please tell me about the bus service to the parks from both resorts. Thanks! :upsidedow

Boats run from both.. The boat "starts" in POR and then stops at FQ and heads to DTD. They run more often at peak times then middle of the day

DTD back, they stop at FQ first then POR. If you are staying at FQ, the boat is "better" or faster then if you are in POR.

Buses also pick up FQ first and then hit main depot at POR when going to parks. On way back, they hit FQ first then POR. Again, FQ has an "advantage" if you want to call it that.

We did POR in april of this year. Loved the resorts, but did not like the buses. We are going Jan 08 and picked FQ due to smaller size and first accesss to buses.

Via boat, not a big difference, but there is one. Plus you can still use POR pool and facilities if you like.

The boats are slow and the buses are always crowded.

You say the boats are slow like its a bad thing... ;)

The way I see it, if a bus picks me up at POFQ it will take at least 10-20 minutes to get to DTD depending on traffic, whether the bus stops at POR, (especially if it goes to all 4 stops) and if it stops at Typhoon Lagoon (which is a stop included on the DTD run) before going to DTD.

On the other hand, the boats hold 25 passengers and that is the limit that is strictly adhered to by the captains. The boats never feel crowded, at least not to us. We love the leisurely and relaxing boat ride between POFQ and DTD. And the trip to DTD from POFQ takes about 15-20 minutes. I much prefer the boats to the buses.

As for the buses being always crowded; not so. We have been on buses at many different times of day; some were crowded and some were not. The predictable times for crowding is before park opening and at park closing.

The boats are more relaxing than the bus. Either way it's at least 15 min. There's more nature to see on the boat. The only other traffic is another boat. As far as the bus, the last stop for DTD is POFQ, then it heads to DTD assuming TL is closed. On the way back from DTD, you are the last stop. However, for the parks you're first. As someone else said, don't look at it as time waiting for buses. You're on vacation, and you have a driver. I'd rather let Disney do the driving. I usually linger after park closing, so catching a bus back isn't that bad. What else do I have to do when I get back to the room, sleep? Enjoy the time you spend in que with others. Strike up conversations. After all, it's the happiest place on earth. Most people are "happy" to be there. In fact, how many of us are happiest there. :confused3

Our thoughts, exactly! :thumbsup2 Some of our greatest Disney memories were made because of the fact we are laid back "take it as it comes" kind of people. :cool1: That is one of the reasons why i posted the question about the boats. We love eating and just strolling around DTD-yet we hate the hustle & bustle of the busses to DTD. The park busses don't bother us-just that bus ride to DTD for some reason. :scared:

I stayed at PO:RS my last trip. Rode the bus the first night and was the only person onboard, except for the driver of course. The busses do get crowded sometimes but that is true of all the resorts.

The boat is a nice, relaxing way to get to Down Town. My family had an argument that evening and riding the boat with my DSIL was a wonderful way to relax and calm down. Seeing DTD from the water was really neat.

I agree with PP about boat rides. I wouldn't give them high marks for speed or carrying capacity but it is one of the most quiet and relaxing ride at WDW. If you want speed to DTD you will have to drive yourself or the old "take a cab" advice. Me, I am glad I can take my time and enjoy it. In the end, the wait for a boat and the slow trip is not that bad.

The boats are slow and the buses are always crowded. Check out this threads.
I agree. The boats are a change of pace but that pace is slow. The buses depend on the time of year you go but my experience is that they are over crowded.
