POR or POFQ???

POFQ is closer to the main pool and has faster bus service with actual seat sitting (lol) and begniets (sp)...

sigh...still so confused :([/QUOTE]
Nuserypoo, another thing that seems to be forgotten is that POR and POFQ are sister resorts so you can use the amenities at both, Yes you can actually pool hop. I would stay at POFQ, obviously from my signature, smaller size you can be anywhere in 5 to 10 minutes and the seats on the bus etc. The beniets are absolutely wonderful and remind me of when we lived in Louisiana. We enjoy this resort so much. there were 6 of us staying last sept and the CM's at the resort were great. Ages were 4yrs 2 @ 22 yrs sons 2@49 yrs (us) and my MIL age 70. Everyone loved this resort. :sunny:

Heres the deal. your decision is in what you like or want.If a short walk to the pool, bus, your room is what you want, then POFQ is the resort is for you. If a quiet beautiful walk to the pool, bus, restaurant ,better pools, homey feeling you'll never will forget is what you want want then POR is the resort is for you. POR is a much more comfortable place to to stay.POFQ is a nice resort but POR is a little piece of pure heaven.

What is the age range in your group?

I decided on POFQ because I will be 6 months pregnant and will have toddler to stroll around.

Short distance to everything was a big :thumbsup2 for us. I'm also looking forward to the small town feel.

If you have small children or older adults in your party, I'd go with POFQ. If you have older children, teens, or just you and DH go with POR (magnolia bend mansions)

We are staying at POR for the first time this Thanksgiving. I agonized over which one to stay at...POR or POFQ. I love the theming at POFQ in the bedrooms and all...looks like fun....we (my husband and I) love the theming of Alligator Bayou....that is what I requested....but if we get put in the mansions that will be fine too. I finally decided to pick POR because it seemed like everything was centrally localized there....bike rides, carriage rides, more pools, food court and restaurant. My husband helped too because he loves the look of AB. I think both are beautiful and you couldn't go wrong either way. I will have to write a review on our stay when we get back.

We've stayed at both and while I still have a soft spot in my heart for POR becuase we stayed at it when it was Dixie Landings and it was our very first WDW resort on our very first WDW trip ever, we prefer PO-FQ. Just because it's quiet (though I didn't really notice much "noise" at then Alligator Bayou). But coming from MN and having been to our share of cabins up north, they were too similar to what we had back home ( know there are the mansions but they don't appeal to us aesthetically either) so FQ fits the bill to not even be close to what we experiecne back home. We don't use the busses so I can't speak to that but I know the slide is a huge draw for my hubby and our son. So it's FQ for us! Either way, I'm quite sure you'll be happy. :)

I would stay at the POFQ just for the bus situation alone!! I've stayed at both but prefer being the first to load the bus and first to get off the bus. Both share buses! Better chance on seats. Smaller grounds - less people. My kids like that pool better too!

I hope you pick POR. We are going there with my Mom next month. It will be our 7th (?) stay at POR! You *must* stay on the mansions side, I do agree. It is *lovely* and we have always been just a short, pretty walk over the bridge to the restaurant/gift shop/pool. We stayed in AB twice (our first 2 times) and I liked it, but it's nothing compared to the mansions!

The pool is lovely, the grounds are beautiful, Boatwrights is there (the restaurant - you MUST have their banana french toast and the sweet potatoe pancakes - oh my! :cloud9: AND they have Piano Bob from Wednesday night through Saturday night in the lounge! My whole family LOVES him. He is so talented and quite funny. We love him!

We have been on a couple crowded buses, but for us thay has hardly been the norm...and would in no way be a deal breaker from staying at POR.

Hope you enjoy your stay no matter what! PLease let us know what you finally decide!!! popcorn::

Just returned from POFQ about a week ago. Here's the link to my raving review of it:
Fell head over heels in love...

We walked over to POR for dinner at the food court and a carriage ride. While I thought the grounds were lovely, I did not care for it as much as POFQ. And naturally, due to the size of the resort, there were people everywhere! I liked the quietness and peacefulness of FQ.

POFQ is our favorite resort. If we had to choose a moderate, we'd only go with this one. The main reason is that it is much quieter than all other resorts and tends to have few children. Likewise, it is cozy and small and has newly renovated rooms. The pool is wonderful and has an excellent slide those children that come to the resort enjoy. It is shaped like a sea serpent and riders slide down its tongue. King Triton from Disney's The Little Mermaid is on top of the serpent. There are also alligators dancing around the pool and splashing swimmers.

To correct an above poster, POR and POFQ *DO* in fact share buses. POFQ is picked up and dropped off first though meaning you will always get a seat with this resort. POR is extensively large and usually does not allow its guests bus seats as a result. At times, the two resorts do not share a bus for Magic Kingdom, but they do for all other areas. You can also take the water taxi from POFQ to DTD.
