I already have reservations at POR, but was thinking of changing them to POFQ. I am not seeing much difference in the rooms. I thought being closer to the main pool and being first on the bus stops, plus the biegnets in the food court might be worth the switch. Am I missing something?

What is it about POR that is so much better than POFQ?

Thanks tons!

Never been to POFQ but we LOOOOVED POR. The grounds are gorgeous. There are several quiet pools along with a super fun main pool. My family really enjoyed POR (though we didn't think we would based on the room pics - it didn't do it justice!!) and can't wait to return next May!

POR has a better pool area, staged around the theme not around the slide like POFQ. a much larger common area,ie;lounge, arcade, gift shop etc. nicer grounds with a theme change from bayou to mansion section. outdoor activity rentals. larger food court. a table service restaurant. POFQ, DOES NOT make me feel like i am in the Big Easy, POR DOES make me feel like i am in the ante-bellum south.

We have stayed at both POR and POFQ (but not POFQ since they did the renovations). If you are looking for nicer grounds and a better atmosphere in the common area, go with POR. If it is the location of everything i.e. the distence from your room to the pool or common area, go to POFQ as everything is much closer together. If you happen to get building say 29 at POR, it could take you up to 15 minutes to walk to the common area.

I have stayed at both (POR, several times) I love the peacefulness of POR, becasue its so spread out, you never feel like your there with tons of other people. However I did find that everything at FQ was close to my my room, and our kids loved the pool.....tough choice....I guess if I had to chose, I would choose POR, only because I have been there 4 times and our family just keeps ending up there :sunny:

I would have to vote for POFQ. The resort is much smaller and not so spread out. Any building you stay at is with in close distance to the pool and busses, food court ect.. Plus they don't share busses with PORS. My kids loved the pool very cool and you can also take a short walk over to RS and use there pool. We loved it and would stay there again. :smooth: :hippie:  :teeth: :) :sunny: :yay:  :thumbsup2

For convienece of being closer to the pool, main building, and bus stop, I would go with FQ. Also, if you want to be the first off the bus and the first on the bus, having a guaranteed spot, I would go with FQ. When we stayed there last year and went to POR to pick up people on the bus, FQ would always be first so we would have seats and most of the time the POR had to stand...of course, we would give up seats to people with babies and lil kiddos, however, it got crowded pretty quickly and we often didn't make ot past 1-2 POR bus stops before being filled. It did take about 25-30 min to get to MK this way, but I didn't mind because it helped me to wake up in the morning and get an extra rest in as we were getting to the parks in the afternoon.

I thought FQ was pretty relaxing and quiet....even in busy June. We were in bldg. 5 on the river and although we were back away from things, I never thought we were "far" away.

I've never stayed at either, but we are booked for POFQ in Sept. From what I understand, these sister resorts allow you to share amenities. (ie the pool) So, if it's just a short walk to those from POFQ, then I'm going with closer to the bus stop for when I'm dead on my feet from walking around the park! :rotfl2: (Well, have 4 adults and 4 strollers with us this time!)

As far as the rooms they are the same size and have the same amenities. The grounds are beautiful at both. The pool area is better at POR and they have more than 1 which is nice. The main pool is usually the most crowded. If size and travel time are your biggest concern go with POFQ. The grounds are much smaller and easier to get to the pool, food court, etc. and you don't have to worry about multiple bus stops the majority of the time. However we were just at POR and most of the time the bus filled up at the main bus stop so we didn't have to go any further. Both are beautiful - enjoy!

thanks for the replies :) I still feel so on the fence...seems 50/50 who likes which resort.

I would love to stay at POR in the mansion, but my hubbys a big man and i would love the trundle bed for our 9 yr old (if we could get it) which means we would need to stay in the AB, which to me isnt as pretty.

POFQ is closer to the main pool and has faster bus service with actual seat sitting (lol) and begniets (sp)...

sigh...still so confused :(

Nurseypoo I know your pain.
I agonized over where to stay in July - it will be the first time staying on property for my best friend and I wanted it to be perfect.

I finally chose POR - requested the mansions because I thought they looked beautiful. I agree with you that the decor in AB did nothing for me.

Even after I chose POR, i still read every review on POFQ, CS and CBR. So far I've seen positives and negatives for every single moderate there is. So I am just sticking with my decision and hoping its wonderful!

We're at POFQ right now, and judging by the sheer number of POR people we've seen on the buses, I'll never stay there. At night the MK has separate buses to POR and POFQ, and the POR line is always a mile long. Last night we were at Epcot EMH, and the stop there is shared POR/POFQ - the bus was completely packed, even all the standing room taken, and it turned out that only 5 of us were from POFQ! We got off first, and I felt very sorry for the poor folks who had to stand through 3 more stops in POR.

So for me, POR is a lovely resort, but it looks like way too much of a hassle. I' d take it over the other mods, because they are similar size-wise, but POFQ is defiinitely the best mod IMO. :thumbsup2

I've stayed at both but much prefer POFQ. I've also stayed at BC and AKL and prefer POFQ over those too. I'm sure you'll enjoy either one but POFQ would be my pick.

i just got back from POR after 10 days...........we loved POR and took a boat ride past POFQ and took a horse and carriage ride through POFQ and drove through it on the bus many times.............i can't say enough good things about POR and would highly recomend staying there..........as for POFQ, my impression bus overwhelmingly.........BORING. It was a ghost town every time i saw it.........i kept telling my wife it's perfect for peoplethat want peace and quiet and have no interest in fun things like taking walks, playing in the arcade, fishing, boating, etc...................it looked nice enough but didnt seem to have the magic that POR had.

pirate: It depends on what is most important to you. I was at FQ in November and loved it. I also think Riverside is beautiful. Can't say enough about the busses at FQ. If you are a light sleeper FQ is wonderful. I am a very light sleeper but was never once disturbed. Having a good nights sleep was very important to me. If you have children, they will love the dragon pool at FQ. POR gift shop is larger and has the sit down restaurant. We wanted to save $ and eat at the food court so FQ was perfect for us, but we knew we could eat at table service in POR if we changed our minds. The beignets in the morning at FQ were well worth it! Everything is a short walk when you stay at FQ. We also knew that things like fishing, horse carriage rides and boat rentals were right next door at POR. In fact we rented a bike at POR. It's a very short relaxing boat ride or a pleasant walk to POR from FQ. I love walking and having fun and we were never bored because we staryed at FQ. You are free to use both resorts. Also FQ does have an arcade. Have a great time. :)

Our favorite resort is POFQ. It is compact, very beautiful and QUIET!!! Even at Christmas time, we never had a problem with noise and the resort was full! We were on the second floor in Building Four. Just outside was a quaint, beautiful court yard. Very nice. The walk to the food court was about 2 minutes, to the bus stop, maybe 3 minutes and to the pool about 5 minutes. There were tables outside the food court that were really wonderful to sit at in the early morning hours with my coffee and benigets watching people.
I have stayed in the AB part of POR and I was not impressed. I felt like I was in a swamp. At POFQ it was like being on a side street. We love it here and will be back in August. Cannot wait!!!! pixiedust:

I also keep going back and forth, FQ or POR, did I make the right decision? We are staying at FQ with free dining from 9/27 to Oct 2 and because we are from a very very small town and don't like noise or crowds, FQ will be best for us. We plan to take the kids on the boat each nite to Downtown and our DS 3 will love the dragon slide pool. Still we won't have to worry about screaming children, not that ours doesn't let it out now and then.

We stayed at OKW in a villa and loved the huge bedroom, kitchen, patio and just everything but it was a free upgrade. I don't know how we are going to do in a room after that.

Still I am thrilled to be going back to WDW and on my birthday!

See you there, April :Pinkbounc

Deffinitely POR! We just recently stayed there and LOVED it infact if it weren't for location I liked it better then the Contemporary! When we drove by POFQ on the bus it looked very boring and stark! POR was so peaceful who knew there was such a thing at Disney! Deffinitely stay at POR!

We are going to POR in two days, and I will able to tell you about the whole bus thing when I get back. Be on the look out for my trip report sometime after the 19th!
