I've decided on staying at POR for my upcoming disney vacation (not until Jan-Feb 2006). I know a lot of people have been there so I was wondering who has stayed at the mansions or AB? :confused3

Any suggestions on which are best? I will be traveling with my DH and DS (he'll be 6 when we go). I know it's all a matter of opinion but thought it would be interesting to find out where the majority of people from the board have stayed.

We got a second floor corner river view in the AB, building 27, and it was PERFECT for us. It felt like a retreat center, and wandering by the river was wonderful.

The mansions looked like too many floors to us, almost like apt buildings. Just our opinion looking from the outside.

We stayed in the mansions last year and it was a LONG walk to everything. I would suggest AB. I wished we had requested that.

Myself, DH, DS(who was 2 at the time) was at POR in Sept. 2003. AB, Bldg 16, 2nd floor, corner room. LOVED IT. Can't wait to go back. Can honestly say that all three of us really enjoyed this resort. Nice food court, pool, overall ambience.
Our previous trip in 1999 was at OKW in a 2 bedroom villa. Didn't think we would ever settle for anything less. Pleasantly surprised.

We stayed in AB a few years back when it was still Dixie Landings (always will be for us) and it was great. One of the nicer things was we had our own pool which was nice for those late night swims after coming back from Pleasure Island.

They are both very nice and I think it is a matter of which you prefer....

We stayed in Mansion fairly close to the front of the resort both times with corner water view rooms. The rooms themselves were a dressy more feminine decor and very nice. The gardens around the buildings were beautiful and we enjoyed walking. We never used the quiet pools as they were very much like upscale apt pools - no imagination. It felt very adult there and we were aware of many couples walking and sitting. Both times we stayed there I had my mother with me. Kids were much younger when I stayed here.

We stayed in AB in buildings that were pool view. They were also towards the front of the resort, although we did not want the building close to the main building. Pizza delivery truck was zooming in and out all the time. We had first floor corner rooms and we loved it. The rooms are very cabin/rustic style. Was like our own rustic retreat with a "porch" and we looked out at pool and bogs. The kids loved the paths with all the croaking noises and the landscape was very plush. The pools were free form, like "ponds" and we enjoyed having an evening dip there. Both times we stayed there I had my DH with me. DH & kids like AB better.

We stayed in the mansions twice but we walked around and both sections are beautiful. I like the look of the mansions better so that is where I request but if we were put in AB I probably would not even ask to be changed. Both areas have the same in room amenities, so request what you think is more attractive but I don't think you will be disapointed either way.

Ask for a second floor corner room in bldg. 14 or 16!! AWESOME!

We have stayed at por about 5 times each time in AB bldg's 14 16 18 15 we love it it is our favorite resort love the rustic feel . We are on our way in 4 days for another 7 night stay at POR and to us it is still Dixie Landings wished they never changed it
