This will be our first time traveling to WDW, have been to DL many times. We are going 3/21 thru 3/28. I booked a room at POR and got a rate of $155 per night (including tax) Is this a good rate or should I try for something different. I am so confused, everyone on this board seem like ole pros at getting good deals. I hate when I do things without looking into them first. ya know. Thanks

BF and I stayed at POR this past September. Our rate was $88/night incl. tax. BUT that was a postcard rate which is hard to come by. If you happen to find a better rate, you can always apply it later.

You're gonna love this resort it's really beautiful and very nice. I had never stayed anywhere but the deluxe hotels so I was a little worried that I wouldn't be happy at a moderate but I really enjoyed it and I know we'll be back there again soon.

You will love POR, it's our favorite of all the hotels.
Check out www.mousesavers.com for any discounts available. (click on WDW in the left side and then click on WDW resorts)
If no specials are available you can try to use AAA to see if they have a less rate.

Like you, we are staying at the POR March 25-April 4, peak season. There is an AP code that I used (BEX) for this time period. It just came out earlier this week. I am paying $104/night + tax = $115/night. Because I made the reservations under my name, I will be buying the AP this year. The room savings (plus the 10-15% discounts in certain restaurants and mini-golf) justifies the AP purchase for one member of our family.

Do your math, and decide whether it is worth it for you as well. Remember, you have to present your AP at check-in to get the BEX code rate, otherwise you'll be paying rack rates (!!!).

kboles...I am in the same boat as you are. This will be our first stay at POR also. Our rate is $156.10 (tax included) for a waterview room. This is the AAA rate. It was the best I could find. Our dates are May 8-15th. Maybe with a little luck a discount code will come out and we can both lower our rates! Keeping my fingers crossed...

We booked POR with the BDP code for March 20-21st at $114/night (WITHOUT tax). Unfortunately you had to book the BDP code by Dec. 1st. You could buy a children's AP and use the AP rate, or you could switch your reservation over to the MYW package with dining. The dining option costs $35 per adult and $10 per kid for each night of your stay. Each day you get 1 sitdown meal, 1 counterservice meal and 1 snack. It could save you a lot of money, especially if you will eat a lot of sitdown meals.
