POR compared to CBR

Hi! We are looking to book a trip in Feb 2025 and was looking at the Port Orleans Riverside resort (we are limited to which resorts we can book since we are a family of 5). Can anyone tell me how this resort compares in size to the Caribbean Beach Resort? I was not a fan of CBR due to its size, and lack of elevators, so was wondering how POR is. Lack of Skyliner access doesn't bother me in this case, since we plan on only doing 3 nights/2 park days at Disney and then going to a Universal resort after that.

POR is smaller that CBR in overall size.

I believe the two-story Alligator Bayou buildings at POR also don't have elevators, but the other buildings do. POR, like CBR, is very spread out and has multiple bus stops.

Although POR doesn't have the Skyliner, the Port Orleans resorts are very close to.both Epcot and DHS--a 10- or 12-minute bus ride away. And have the boat to DS and a pretty walking path along the river.

As a family of 5, you'll definitely be in the Alligator Bayou area. You probably already knew that :) but mentioning it just in case and for others who may be wondering. POR is smaller than CBR. If you need to have a ground floor room in the buildings that do not have elevators, definitely request one ahead of time, and if that request is not honored, ask again at check in. They should work with you if at all possible to make that happen. POR is absolutely gorgeous! The Alligator Bayou area can be a little tricky to navigate as it is a wooded area with various pathways. If you get lost (personal experiences here, lol) just walk to the outer edge of the resort, pathway loop, and follow the parking lot around to get to the front. It will take longer, but it is a sure fire way to get from Alligator Bayou to the front of the resort.

There are multiple bus stops located around the resort, so no one building is particularly far from one. There are preferred buildings in the Alligator Bayou section that are very close to the main buildings. All Alligator Bayou rooms are 5th sleepers.

POR is smaller, but can still have a good walk from your room to the lobby especially in Alligator Bayou. Depending on which building, you could have a bus stop pretty close though.

However, even with a longer walk, I feel like POR is just overall prettier and more enjoyable to walk through. :)

I didn’t find the walk from alligator bayou to be bad at all to the main features (food quart, feature pool, lobby). I love the room we had and how close we were to a bus stop and quiet pool (my kids like the quiet pool more than the feature pool as it was way less crossed). Javi g walked around CBR, it just seems massive! I’d totally stay at POR again, even without the skyliner.

Neither option will have elevators if you need a 5th sleeper. The 5th sleeper rooms are all in the Alligator Bayou section of POR which has no elevators; there are elevators in the mansion section but no 5th sleepers.

POR is large but not as large as CBR, and unless you want to take a walk there isn't need to walk around the whole resort. All transportation is by bus so there's no long walk to the skyliner. AB section is preferred (not all rooms) so slightly closer to the main building/pool than the mansions.

Thank you for that info. I will try to request a ground floor, I just remember during our CBR trip it was a pain lugging my son's stroller up the steps. We were in Trinidad and I remember it took me 15 min to walk to the main area.

I agree with everything you said. We always stayed in the AB area, but most of that now is preferred. I loved the seclusion of the many pathways. It made us feel like we were in the tropics. The private pools were great and never crowded when we went. We never had a problem with the bus stops either. The food at the court was very good. I can't speak for the food now as we haven't been back there since 2020. I love POR.
