Thinking about taking the carriage ride after our 6:20 PM dinner at Boatwrights. Is this relatively "insect (mosquito) free" or should we bring insect spray?? Appears we'll have to take the ride after dinner, as I understand they don't begin until 6:00 PM (???)
Am asking because last time we did anything truly outdoors at night (minigolf at Winter/summerland) I was nearly eaten alive by insects.
Appreciate any help, thoughts, or advice!!!

There will be insects, we have been talking about doing the same thing. I am bringing a couple of bricks to tie around each ankle so we don't get carried off :rotfl2:

Bring bug spray with that much water around you can be sure off insects.

Because of all the rain we've had, the bugs are HORRIBLE this year. Bring bug spray!

Ditto, bring the spray.
When we did the ride last year, there was a rainstorm blowing in, and that kept the bugs off of us somewhat, mainly the weaker flying ones (i.e. mosquitos), but it didn't seem to phase the larger flies and their many friends.

I don't know anything about whats going on whether or bug wise in Florida right now, but DH and I took a carriage ride after dark last April and there were no bugs. No bug spray needed. We did need a jacket though. It was a beautiful ride. I'd defer to those who've been more recently for current info, but there are not ALWAYS bugs.

Shelly,

The bug situation in April wasn't nearly what it is right now. We're being over run and eaten alive due to the really wet summer we had.

I live in FL, just north of you ducklite, and I don't find the bugs to be bad at all.

I don't consider this summer to be all that wet...we've certainly had wetter...last year for example.

WDW does a lot with IPM so guests can have relatively bug free experiences.

Well, I'm just speaking from my experience. DH and I went to Epcot for an hour after dinner a couple weeks ago, and got eaten alive. That's never happened before. (And not trying to argue, but it has been an unusually rainy summer according to what WESH 2 was saying the other day)
