My husband and I will be going to POR in November. We have been there twice before - both times we stayed in the the Mansion section. We are thinking of asking to stay in the Bayou section this time but a while back I heard somwhere that the Bayou section was noiser because there were more familes with children staying in that section (???). Is that true? I would love to hear from people who have stayed in both sections to see their experiences!! Thanks!

I called POR to ask about renovations and the Bayou section is due to be renovated next, so it will show more signs of wear and tear.

How about POFQ? That is terrific, fun for adults and newly renovated. I've stayed at POFQ (without kids) and really enjoyed it...first bus stop both ways.

Have fun choosing!

My very first visit to WDW was in '99 and we stayed in AB. Yes, it was more rustic than the mansion section. But, we found it to be quite peaceful. It was really quieter than the time we stayed in Magnolia Terrace. I loved walking to the food court in the early morning....bunnies, birds, fog...it was quite beautiful.

We've stayed in both and it really just comes down to personal preferance. We didn't notice a difference as far as families and kids go - then again we went in Jan. and Feb.!

We actually preferred AB to our surprise:D We liked the color scheme of the rooms better and liked that it had a more intimate feel since the buildings and smaller than the mansion buildings. We also liked seeing various "friends" on our way to the bus stop in the morning - the regular ducks and rabbits plus a tree frog next to our door and really early one morning a raccoon.

The downside for us is that we got lost - frequently... :( We managed to get lost quite a bit the first few days.

Our room wasn't run down this last trip, and we still requested AB for our upcoming trip, keeping our fingers crossed:teeth:

Have fun deciding!!

My husband and I were there in May, I had requested the Mansions, however we were put in AB. At first I was disappointed. But after getting to our room, I totally enjoyed the area. I found it quite and it was really pretty with all the trees and plants. We were in building 15 and a very short walk to the main building and to the bus stop. Enjoy, have a great trip.

Stayed in AB (18) I think. Mansions Magnolia Bend. The only child noise related incident was a mom walking up the steps holding onto her screaming toddler. Two things bothered me about AB. Towels hanging over many balcony rails. (throw them in the drier) And people in No Smoking rooms smoking in their doorways and leaving their ashes and butts in the walkways. ( get a smoking room) Nothing like seeing a disheveled smoker with a ciggey in her mouth coughing first thing in the morning.
