POR? AB or Mansions?

I love POR! This time we are trying AB, but last stay was Mansions. We had connecting rooms. They were lovely. Thanks to SeaSpray for the updated photos of AB! The grounds look so lush. Now crossing fingers for good bus transportation.

wow those were great pics. we went over there one time, but did not get to see the rooms. it really looks nice, esp. the pools.

I love POR, and have stayed in both the Mansions and AB and enjoyed them both. I have to pick the mansions, only because I like the themeing a little better. As someone else already pointed out, there are rooms in both sections that can be close to the food court and pool, and others that can be pretty far.

But if your husband likes the landscaping and likes the feel of being out in the woods, AB is probably the place for him.

OK, for our up-coming POR trip, I'm interested in hearing from all you POR pros....which would you prefer to stay at if given the choice & why? I know the decorating is a little different between the two but there must be other reasons as well....I'ld love to hear your take on it.

In my opinion it is the choice between staying at Grand Floridian-like buildings (mansions) or staying in a building in Fort Wilderness. I am not a woodsy-person and found the AB buildings/pathways a bit too wild and buggy for my tastes. Hence, I prefer the mansions. I think they are the nicest moderate resort buildings. Great for honeymoons. ... and my toddler loves the wildlife found on the open lawns and river banks.

I always ask for (and have always gotten) the Magnolia Terrace building. I ask for it because from the parking lot corner of the building is the bus depot, and from the river side corner of the building is the bridge to the main pool and food court. By my calculations, this is the closest to all 3 (last bus depot, main pool, food court) of all the buildings. The other buildings may be closer to one, but are farther to the others.

The trick to getting the building you want is to call the front desk 2-3 days prior to arrival and verifying your request is on the record.

Just posted my own before I found this - does anyone have updated pictures like those of the Mansions? I am also having the hardest time deciding! I think I'd love both, so, it's tough.

Then I would recommend staying at the AB... so much better w/ children...

If it was just you & your husband my vote would have been for the mansion style rooms because I think they are more romantic.... but w/ kids stay at AB!!!!

We stayed in AB Building 14 in 2006 and LOVED it! The surroundings there are beautiful and building 14 was right by the food court. It was a great location and a wonderful trip!

It is just my dh and myself. We love the mansions. They are romantic, beautiful and peaceful.
