Popularity of your kids name..

Both of my daughters have names that peaked in the 70's

One daughter has a name that was in the 300's the year she was born and now is in the 400's. My other daughter's name was in the 400's when she was born and just last year dropped off the list.

I was skimming the class lists for the school this year and my daughters are the only kids in the school with their respective names. Although one of them shares her name with a teacher. :)

My name was top 20 the year I was born and dropped off the list 7 years ago. I am amazed at some of the names on that list while something simple like Lynn has not been in the top 1000 since 1996!

My daughter's name, Emerson, wasn't even listed as a rank in 2000. I think that the ranking is wrong for 2009. It is 290. It seems really off.
My other daughter is number 32 and was 44 the year she was born.

My son's name has not been in the top 1000. His name is Torin.

I did not care how common my kids names were but what did matter was:

1) That I used the commonly accepted spelling. No need to confuse everybody with creative spelling.
2) I did not make the name up.
3) A person would know how to pronounce it by seeing it. No funny silent letters.
4) That is did not sound like another common word.
5) That is sounded nice with our last name.
6) That the intials did not spell a word.

my name was not popular when I was born but I guess I made it popular because from 81-93 it was in the top 20

my oldest DD (Joey) ranks between 800 and 900 from 1969-1979 then drops off the charts (she was born in 1996)

middle DD Highest is 200 but if you put together all the versions of her name she hits top 10 (she is Abby but Abigail stays way up) she was born in 1999

youngest DS has been in the top 20 since 1971 Ryan he was born in 2003

we stuck with simple short 1st names due to our impossible last name that nobody can pronounce or spell

Moira - Not in top 1000
Elliot - 332

OP, were you a big Mortal Kombat fan? Whenever I hear Rayden, I think "Raiden WIN!"

my dd 3 name is Olivia, it is #6 for 2008...and it was # 5 in 2005 the yr she was born.I had no clue it was a popular name....when I named her I did not know anyone with a child by that name.My dh had a little crush on the law and order SVU lady lol :rotfl:

My children's names have never been in the top 1000. They are spelled correctly and they are real names, not made up.

My DDs names are way up there - like #1 and #3 way up there. :)

There is a reason.

My name is not in the top 1,000 for the past 9 years.
