Popular times for DVC

When do you think the busy DVC times are and the less busy DVC times. It seems to me that more DVC members go to the world in the winter. I'm pretty new to DVC, so it is possible this isn't the case.

You know it seems to me lately that there are two seasons - busy and busier, lol.

I find myself planning earlier and earlier and now using the 11 month window which I only used once in a while before.

But that is not to say that you can't make travel plans late. If you are flexible with dates and resorts you have the best chance of getting something late in the game.

All that being said, any time period surrounding a holiday will be busy as well as the month of December. Plan for 11 month booking for these if you can. Some people have luck with waitlists, but I never had good results myself.

I would say that anytime during the Food and Wine period, as well as early Dec, right after Thanksgiving. Great atmosphere all around and lower point usage.

It's almost easier to say when it's not busy...

-September
- early May
-January, but NOT the week of the Marathon OR New Years week OR MLK week (I guess that pretty much shot January)
- February IF Easter is late. If Easter is early (like this year), Spring break periods will start and February could be challenging

- and actually summer is not too bad except for BCV (it's small and kids love SAB). DVC ers who have a choice don't travel in the heat

I do believe that it's getting busier by the minute. When we joined (only 6 years ago), I called and booked the rooms sometime between the 11 month and 7 month window and had no problems. Three years ago, I had called around the 9 month mark to book a 1 bedroom at the BCV in Oct and was told that there was one day that it was not available. I was shocked. So I had been put on a waitlist. Luckily, we were able to get it. However, since then, I have booked exactly 11 months to the day. My husband finds it hilarious that I tell him that I have to call that early, but he perfectly fine with it because BCV is our favourite resort.
