This is so great!! :sunny: I have a few questions...
1- How are most people planning to pass the refrigerator to the next person?

2- Does anyone know exactly which refrig. we are getting? Does it have freezer space?

3 - With the abundance of swapper's in our group, is the price changing as mentioned before?

Thanks! :teeth:

I haven't received PM yet with all the details but I'm still in in case it's lost in Cyber space somewhere. I also work graveyard shift so it's early afternoon before pm's are answered,

Juli

Just a quick note, I'll respond more later this evening.

Luvchefmic, Fire14, Bbangel, Zoie, and 4Lilpoohs. I just sent you a PM. Sorry you didn't recieve it last night. I sent them in two batches and I guess the second batch didn't go through-I must have done it wrong. :sad2:

Okay everyone, I'm back on the computer now. Alot of you are asking which ref. we are getting and I was planning on getting the 3.1 cubic (Haier) from Walmart. After being on hold with the one on Vineland for over 1/2 hr. (long distance from CA) :sad2: I gave up and never did received an answer as to which ones they have in stock. :confused3

I've been in contact with ShellyBelly (she has another swap going) and her DH was able to find out that they stock that one as well as the smaller one (1.7) but they won't hold one and there's no guatantee that'll be there when I go on 9/9 about 11-11:30 p.m.

So, I'm rethinking where I'm going to get one. I think it's too late to ship it, and while it'll be there in time for everyone else, I may not have it in time.

So, I'm planning on getting it at Sams Club. I will have to go there some time on 9/10 (Sunday) to pick it up. I'll be able to have it on hold if I use Click 'n Pull (I'm a Business Member). I can do this on Saturday (9/9) before I leave for the airport (about 10 a.m.) and pick it up Sunday. It looks like a nice one and it's alittle bigger than the one from Walmart. The one at Sam's is a GE, 3.1 cubic, and white. It'll be a little taller (34 1/2") and a little heavier too.

I hope this works out for everyone, I was just about to pull out my hair yesterday with Walmart. The only bummer (for me) is that 9/10 is a Sunday and Sam's is only open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., but never fear, I will pick it up then and have it to start the swap. I think we'll make Sunday a non-park day (or a water park day) though we were planning on taking advantage of MK EM p.m.-and I guess we still could do that-we'll be suffering from the 3 hr. time difference anyway. Not a big issue! :goodvibes

Here's the link if you want to check it out.

Sorry for the length of this post, but this is quicker than PM everyone. :hourglass

Okay, now I'm going to look at all my PM and respond to them. Thank you for your patience. Terri

Okay, the refrigerator swaps are causing some concern among Dis Board moderators. Please read post on my original thread

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1206818&page=3&pp=15

and let me know what you think. If anything was to happen to the refrigerator, out of my control, I don't want to be held (financially) responsible. Please read and send me your comments PM. If it's a concern with enough of you then I will have to rethink doing all this. I would hate having wasted the 6-8 hrs. I've already spent on this. :confused3. I'm sure we are all grown-ups and can come up with a solution to please all. :thumbsup2 I know I would have preferred to join an existing swap and risk my small amount of money but my dates weren't available. So I had to start my own.

As to the issue of the refrigerator getting lost, or stolen: That's one of the reasons I'm not sure we should let it continue for much longer, the longer it goes on, the more likely the chance something will happen. :sad2: There is also the issue of the cost going down the more people who join in and I don't think it's fair for the first joiners to pay more than the last. Also, I'm not planning on make a profit on this deal-just trying to help a few fellow Dis-boarders.

All swappers (in this swap) please respond. Thanks ,Terri

Not in the swap, but here's my 2 cents...

I think only the first people in the swap should contribute toward the money. I'd say $10 a person for the first 6 for a $60 fridge. The likelyhood it will be lost/damaged gets greater as time goes on. It may not seem "fair" that person number 7 gets a free fridge, but everyone is still saving a lot of money.

To address the what happens if it gets broken/no show thing, I think that'll just have to be a trust thing. What's the worst thing that'll happen? (A) You have to rent a fridge which you would've had to anyway, or (b) you don't get a fridge.

Okay, everyone, I'm taking a little break from this. My dinner is ready (it smells delicious) and I've been dealing with this swap for the last 1-1/2 to 2 hrs.

So, if I don't respond to your posts, or PM, immeadiately, don't take it personally. :teeth: I just need to step back from this for a little while at spend some time with my family. :goodvibes

Thanks, Terri

Terri, and all swappers on the list, I understand that the above link posted by a moderator is just legalease or in plain english Cover Your A$$. It makes sense from DIS board point of view that they would say "Hey you posters all got together here but we will not be held responsible" It's like placing a newspaper ad and the newspaper putting a disclaimer regarding the content of the ad..like I said makes sense. That's fine we will agree that they are legally "out of the loop".

I am putting my faith in all my fellow Dissers and Disney lovers that no one would intentionally break the circle of trust. If for some reason a trip is cancelled or there is a "no show" for a handoff, IMHO, the fridge could go into POP storage with the name/ressie # of the one who should have it next (in case they do show up but maybe were delayed for some reason) and as a backup plan the name/ressie # of the one after that. I think that's really all we can do.

Ruthie, I hear the coffee is really bad! Luckily, my caffeine of choice is Diet Coke. :goodvibes My DM does drink coffee (less now then before she went thru chemo a few yrs ago-she doesn't know why). She's never complained about it, is it really that awful?

Everyone currently in our swap, I've been exchanging PMs with McGoofy (their swap has already started) and here's what she told me:

I saw on someone's post that they were getting the 4.2 which is huge! I was going to get the 3.1 from Walmart, but availabilty is an issue. Did you get the 1.7? and it's big enough? As of 2 days ago the WM on Vineland had at least 10 of the smaller ones in stock. I would love to be able to get the smaller one since I will personally be carrying it around. As long as it'll freeze water bottles then the size would be fine. If we get the smaller one, I'll just refund my swappers a few dollars each. Thanks, Terri

Response from McGoofy:

We did get the 1.7 - http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=5043379

It took I think exactly one week - maybe a day less? I know we had ordered the cheaper one and then realized this one had a freezer compartment, so she cancelled and ordered this one. It was delivered Monday and I'm trying to think, it was either Monday or Tuesday that she changed the order.

I guess it depends on what your swappers plan to keep in there. You could fit a half gallon of milk, some water and cans of whatever drink, and room for small leftovers. I can't imagine needing a LOT of refrigerated items on a value resort vacation - villas with ful kitchens maybe, LOL. I had one this size in my dorm room years ago and had enough room to keep all the supplies for whatever microwaveable concoctions I could come up with, LOL. It was pretty heavy and awkward too, not so much that I *couldn't* carry it. . . but enough that I'd hesitate getting anything bigger for something that'll be moved around weekly.

Now back to live post-

I personally would be happy with the smaller one. It weighs about 45# versus the 70# for the larger ones. I'm sorry to keep changing on this but now that it's been confirmed that the smaller one is good for freezing water bottles, I think it would be good for everyone. Also, maybe Disney would be less likely to complain about storing the smaller one What does everyone think?

With the holiday weekend, I don't think there is time to order it. The estimated delivery (if ordered today, is Sept. 7-15th which doesn't work for me :confused3 ).

So if everyone is okay with the smaller one, I will return to my original idea of picking it up (the 1.7 one) at Walmart on the way in (sorry mom & DD!). So as not to post money issues here, please PM with those questions-thanks. Terri

Added-maybe I could pick up an inexpensive coffee maker (with the difference). I don't drink it, but my DM does and I'm sure alot of you do too! Let me know.

I'm happy with the smaller fridge. As stated the less we have to lug around is probably the better!

bbangel-thanks-that's one vote for the smaller. :thumbsup2 Next?

buzzbuzz21-we'll pencil you in-hopefully the frig. will still be around that long. We have a big gap to fill in from 2-7 to 4-10. Just keep on checking. Thanks.
