Hi gang,
I'm home from the beach, had a great time!! I got a nasty facial sun burn, even with sun screen on. All went well, it was 94 today and felt like 106 as per the weather channel here. We had a few runs nothing major. One guy had a massive case of heat exhausting and dehydration. We cooled him off and gave him lots of gatorade. One lady lost her kid, which turned into a water search, but turns out the kid just wondered away and was found at the playground sprinklers after a brief search. Other than that nothing major happened which is good. It was a hot one today.


Scrappinmom- The cyclone was one of my most favorite rides as a kid, me and my friends used to take the nyc subway for a dollar each and ride that thing all day when i was a teenager!! I stopped ridding it about 7 years ago after a undercover report found that most of the wood it was built with was rotten and the thing was in dissaray. It got a massive upgrade, but still i was always afraid to ride it after that report. About 3 years ago a worker had a few "too many" beers and tried to ride it late at night in a standing postion, sadly he did not survive. Glad you little ones had a good time there it really is a fun place to visit!! Hope you got a chance to enjoy a nathans world famous dog!!

Adventureland used to be called nellie bly's and my folks used to take me there as a kid, now i take my little one there. About 2 years ago the place was sold and supposed to become luxuary condo's, but the plan was blocked and someone else re bought it and now its called adventure land.

I really wish i would have known you guys were here, we could have met up or something, at least i could have taken you guys and a V.I.P. FDNY museum tour. Hope you guys had fun here!!

Al right gang, i have a ton of stuff to finish and then off to bed, currently we are having bad thunderstorms. so what if the weather channel called for warm and clear overnite. I think i would love to be a forcaster for the weather channel someday, I mean after all it's the only job where its ok to be wrong more than 50% of the time and you still keep your job and get paid good!!

No!!! well atleast they have each other to keep each other busy... which I really doubt.. the only time they get along fine is when Anne is here in Pa and Cherry is on sea (navy)!!! And then they make all this plans.. but give them 12 hours together and trust me... pots and pans starts flying

UGH This weather is starting to depress me! It is SOOOOOOOOOOOOO hot & humid, it's gross just to step outside.

We went & did a little back to school shopping yesterday. Casey actually found a lot of stuff on the sale raks at her stores (Aeropostle, Hollister, A&F, American Eagle)...I still need to take Grace to Justice. Then everything else we'll get at Kohls/Penny's/Sears.

I think we may be taking a trip to IKEA soon....I want to get Casey a new desk, with a nice big work surface...she just had the one that came with her bedroom set, and it's really too small to really to homework on.

They are keeping the dream squad after the promo though. So, since this was their last big one, that's probably why they extended it into another year.

They decided to do away with the big promotions and just stick with the dream squad and such. They will still most likely do something for the events, but just not make it a HUGE thing at all the parks and promo it like crazy in the news. I know i read an article about it here on the DIS and then somewhere else, but this was months ago, so i can't remember!!

Did you all catch the changes to the dining plan?? Regular DDP will NO LONGER include an appetizer or gratuity and will go down $1 i believe in price.

There is a deluxe plan that will include 3 meals per day and the appetizer, but still no gratuity.

I heard about that. I'm kind of sad that they're taking the appetizer and tips away, but we'll still probably get the DDP next year. I think they should have let your choose between and appetizer or dessert. The deluxe plan has too much food!

Hi all! I have been busy busy busy but I am loving every second of it! Ry started school today and so I was kind of bummed. But he is so excited about this year so that is a huge relief.

Tia&Lori, got your stuff for your window? What is your theme?

NO CLUE! I left that up to Lori, but with as crazy as her life as been I think I will have to help. I am hoping after she gets back from Vegas we can decide! What about you???

It seems to me like a lot of the "dreams" were things Disney did anyway. It kind of makes me sad that those little unexpected things that happened here and there are now commercialized and kind of sold out. I think they should for sure keep handing out "dreams" I just wish it was more of a surprise. People go now almost expecting to get something then get miffed when it does not happen. For me, it's enough of a dream to be there ya know? I think it is also kind of lazy and cheap on Disney's behalf to NOT do promotions. I think they are going to have to do some serious damage control when Universal opens the Harry Potter land!!! Disney is wonderful, but changing things up here and there and keeping things interesting is not a bad idea either. Ok, whew. Sorry for the vent, I just see this is a bad PR/Marketing idea.

I think I am going to stick with the Halloween theme since I have most of the decorations anyway. I may add a couple of surprises this year. I need to find my sign board too ! I thought I had it with my suitcase, but no luck.

It has been a nutty day and I am so ready to have it over. This trip literally almost didn't happen but we ulled ourselves together and are outta here at 5am tomorrow. I will probably post pictures to my blog ( see my signature below) so keep an eye out for them as the days roll by.

Well i was close, real close, scary close. We had a tornado today in brooklyn, i swear i'm telling the truth. I know this might me normal for some of you, but this is the first time in history they was a confirmed tornado in nyc. About 5 am i was awaken by loud thunder and buckets of rain. It was also the first time the weather scared me. It was real windy, with really bad lightning and thunder, i mean the kind of lightning that lites up the inside of your dark house. It was bad, real bad, then out of no where the t.v. crackled with breaking news and they told all brooklyn residents to prepare for a tornado and to go into your basements, right away. We here in nyc are not used to that. We have never had a tornado watch/ warning before and this was the first time the weather channel ever told nyc residents to go into thier basements. I could here the wind real bad and my house was shaking a little, i really thought for the first time we might lost the house, it felt as if something was trying to pick it up. Anyway it passed and i went outside to check out if there was any damage 4 out of 14 trees on my block alone were down and pulled out of the ground by thier roots. There were litter and tress branches in the road ways as far as i could see, which was several blocks. I called the fire house to see if they needed me to come in and was told that 911 had thousands of calls from everypart of brooklyn and queens , all from people that needed help. Only one person died, which is one to many but it could have been a lot worse. I ended up going in and i'm really beat we were very busy until about 2 pm. I'm beat and going to bed.Btw we had no damage to our house other than a small chip in a small window.
