Hi just wanted to let you know that the surgery found some pretty bad stuff and my dad is getting bypass surgery (Quadruple bypass) on monday depending on how the weekend goes monitoring him. He has a blockage in a main artery that if he has a heart attack he will die instantly and NOW they find it?!!? MY DAD could have died in WDW!! so needless to say i'm a bit high strung and in and out.

you are in our prayers...I know this ca cause stress and worry... but also keep in mind.. by pass surgery now (statistics) is done so commonly that your dad will be in and out... rest now and save your energy when the recouping process begin... if theres anything I can do you know where to find me... if you need someone to listen call me anytime!

I am sure your dad will come out of surgery just AWESOME!!!! These surgeries seem to be quite commonplace these days, and I am glad he is going to the good hospital! My uncle had one of these, and flew to Vegas a few days later! He will Do GREAT!!!!

I WOULD LOVE ONE OF THESE!!!! I saw it at Costco yesterday, but it didn't have a price over it... I just looked at costco.com and it is $249!

Although, I also saw one that said it did something simmilar, and it was $19.99 at Christmas Tree Shop! I'm sure it was a piece of junk! That is the only reason i am not intoxicated as we speak

Michele-- Casey's uncle had a quintuple bypass when alex was born. He recovered very quickly.

We are off to a car show today...all-ford nationals. DH loves it. I try not to pass out from boredom.

Checking in again, they are transfering my dad to another hospital and most likely will postpone the surgery...not sure why, waiitng for the surgeons to check in I hate all this.

Hi everyone.
We just got back from Tucson a bit ago and had a package waiting ont he front porch from Terry!!!
He sent me this beautiful necklace that he had custom made with all 3 of our birthstones on it. I am wearing it now. He also sent me some loose stones. A few rubies, etc. I am going to go get them looked at to see how much they go for. Terry mentioned he can get just about any stone over there for not a whole lot of money. I knwo one guy bought one for about $2000 and sent it home and his wife was able to sell it for close to $10,000!!!!! So, we'll see what happens. These are not that big, but so pretty. He also sent a few pciture cds. I will make a slideshow and post it on myspace later.
Anyway, time to pick up the hosue a little bit. I am tired and just want to lay on the couch, but I really need to do some housework.

Either that or use for an emergency fund? I know that transferring it to the mortgage will make the interest less over the life of the loan, and that it will be paid off earlier, but putting the extra on the mtg won't change the monthly payment amount. I was so glad that we had some cushion when my DH was laid off that time. (I never got my engagement ring replaced, but glad we had the money to pay the mtg ) What about some liquid investment where you could get to it easy in case of emergency? I know that now, we really have no emergency fund and it scares me to death! The only thing that keeps me okay with that, is that we do have room on the home equity line if we needed quick cash. (we only have a home equity loan, no first mortgage) Whatever you decide, I hope that it makes you HAPPY! That is the best part about getting such a pleasant surprise!

So what is going on with everyone? Where is JEN?????? I have tried IM'ming her and emailing to no avail!!!! Cat has talked to her, and she is back from DL and had some GREAT pics! Where the heck are you??????

So, this week will be hard on DH... he anticipates a quarrel with his siblings over what Rehabilitation Hospital to put his mother in. They visited two and one was a little older, but had all the up to the minute equiptment, and an EXCELLENT reputation. (EVERY healtcare person we have talked to has recomended this facility) and the other one has a very friendly staff and is a newer building. So, of course Rob wants his mother in for the best TREATMENT, so that she will work to get out... and the two siblings want the prettier place so their mom will like it. So, they are meeting with two other family members on Tuesday night. One that is an administrator of nursing homes, and the other who is works in a position that makes sure that insurance companies pay what they are supposed to. (I don't know how else to term it, maybe an Auditor?) and her husband is a vice president of a local hospital. So, they will try to show pros and cons for each facility including what the insurance will cover at each. The nicer facility is in NH and may not be "in network" we aren't sure yet. All that we do know, is that it will be an entirely new set of Dr's, whereas the local facility, the same DR. would oversee her care.

Antss or Chris- I wanted to know if you would know of any Journal of Medicine, or anything like that who would rate facilities? You know how you can get lists of "best schools" and stuff like that.... is there a place where we can get a list of "best hospitals" or "rehabs" for Stroke patients? We are worried that the other facility may really specialize more in like car accidents, and sports injuries, things like that... rather than stroke victims.

Thanks for any info you may be able to provide!

Morning all, we are at the hospital and i have taken over the computer We got word that he is being transferred to Provena St. Josephs still in Elgin. Anyone in the area familiar with the hospital? Once we get over there, they will give us word on when the actual surgery will take place. Due to his condition, he does get to go to the top of the list or somewhere near there so it's first available right now. IF the wait is too long, he may get to go home AS LONG AS he promises to take it easy
