What a crazy weekend! Went to Woodfield Mall with my mom - GEESH where do all those people live?????? I can hoestly say I have never seen so many people in one place! btw, I asked the nice saleslady for a sample of JC for you CR & SHE SPRAYED A PIECE OF PAPER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! UGH I was like "Oh ok, that's pretty" hmmm I wonder if I would like it....nothin nada stingy lady

I appreciate the effort.

See? Theyre TERRIBLE!!! They wont give it up! THEY WILL NOT GIVE IT UP!!!

And youre a braver woman, than I.

Last year I went to Woodfield at Christmas time. I almost got run over, literally. I felt that tire graze my tippy toe of my shoes. Almost got my son too - I was T I C K E D! ! !

So - no Woodfield for me. Bleck!

Hi everyone. MrFDNY: Thanks for looking out for eveyone. It is kind of interesting b/c I actually asked my parents for a CO2 detector for christmas! Now I really wish christmas was alot sooner! That story makes me nervous. We do change our batteries every clock change. Good policy.

Tia: I wrapped for 2 hours on friday. I never thought it would take that long. Then I had to put all the gifts back into the cold cold attic so DD won't find them. We are taking extra precautions since that little "angel" at school told DD that there is no Santa. I figure she will probably tell DD where to look for gifts too!

I don't know what to do. DH's family is very very "different" than we are. And so, of course, they do not like us being different. I think it makes them uncomfortable. Well, tonight is the Christmas concert at school & of course we invited his mom. There is not enough room in the teeny auditorium for all the parents and grandparents but she will go bulistic if we do not ask her. (I think it just gives her an opportunity to throw it at us.) I figured, in the spirit of the season, I would invite her for dinner beforehand. DH thinks it is not a good idea, but "whatever". What should I do? It will not be "fun" but you know. Any input is appreciated.

Hi guys!!

Well the whole going away for a quick trip next week is a dead issue.Btw thank you everyone for all your ideas.We actually were looking at stowe vermont but its a 6 hour drive and ds has school friday and monday,so we would have to leave friday at 3 pm which means we would not get there until 9 or 10pm just to go to sleep then have all day saturday and i would want to leave by 3pm on sunday for the 6 hour drive home.which means we would only really have a full day and a half there.Maybe another time we will go somewhere,maybe even a quick trip to wdw in 2007(i hope!)

Sorry for all fo the quote posts people. But I TRY to remember everything I need to type and I forget, so it is easier to reply to each one individually.

Anywho, Sorry about your weekend plans PJ. Maybe another time would be better. I live about 10 hours or so from Disneyland. And every weekend I of course want to go. But then reality kicks in and I realize how much SOLO driving I will have to do (in CA traffic) for what 1 day? I wanna go SO BAD, but the practical side of me makes me toss the idea to the side.
Not only that but get this, for about $500 more 9plus air fare) I can go to WDW for a week. Prices in Cali are NUTS. I am looking at a DL trip in March, so we'll see.

I did get the girls completely done! Casey - Miss, I'm 12 1/2, and OH SO MOODY - Aeropostle, American Eagle, Hollister, and Bath & Bods works stuff (she's also a fragrance hound!) and a Starbucks gift card. For Miss Grace a bunch o crap, I mean stuff, a kids video camera, soda pop kids, hit the jackpot at the Disney store - they had a whole half wall of Jasmine stuff!!!! There was the cutest coat...no size large or XL - so I couldn't get that. They also had the coolest sparkly eeyore jacket...but it was $75! a bit too steep. Maybe after Christmas....

I went to the PO on Saturday - yikes - that was a mistake! But my SS & wine swap packages are mailed !

MrFDNY - thanks for the reminder....how awesome that you were able to put the pieces together for those people. We have one co detector on the lower level...I always meant to buy one for upstairs and the other part of the house....which I did yesterday after reading your post before I left for shopping. I'm putting them all in today. THANK YOU

This is the girls' last full week of school before xmas break...so I have soooo much to do! I need to wrap their gifts ! SO for this week my entire schedule is: get up, get the girls to school, go to the gym, come home shower, wrap till I pick them up!!!!

I still have to mail my wine. I am writing it down on my to do list!
You are soooo good getting everything done. I am still not even 1/2 way there.
My week is going to consist of shopping, cleaning, more shopping and more cleaning. And maybe if I am lucky wrapping a few gifts. Terry AND my in-laws come in on Sunday. But I promise to make time for you guys too! As silly as it sounds, I look forward to reading this thread very much.
Funny thing about the JC sample. I was cleaning out my car this morning and one of those paper sample things fell out of an ad for our PX. It made me smile and think of Cat! And then I smelled it and WOW! I LOVED it! YUM-O!

I think it is awesome that you are stepping up and being the bigger person. It is really hard when you marry someone who's family is so different from your own. I am in a similar situation. I do not have advice, except to say don't do anything that will make your life more difficult or stressful. It isn't worth it. I would say that you should invite them over for dinner once or twice a year, and that's only if they can be civil. If they are ugly to you or your family then the invitations stop. Maybe next time you can explain that the concerts can really only hold the parents of the children performing only. And then maybe offer to video tape it and give it to her? I dunno girly. Good luck to you and let us know how the evening goes ok?

Wrapping always takes a long time. And I am the only one who does it, so I pretty mcuh kick the boys out and turn on a good movie and wrap away. Ryan still believes in Santa and I will continue to encourage that as long as possible. I know I only have maybe a year or two left and I will be so sad when that magical part of Christmas is gone.

I am so slacking. Ella is in the hospital with bronchitis and I haven't even had a chance to get my SS mailed out. But I have it - I promise. I haven't even had a chance to read our thread this last week !! I am SO sorry but I promise to get my box out as fast as I can !!

I don't know if she will tell me if she got it or even remember why she is getting something. Oh well, at the very least, I sent a stranger a really thoughtful gift that I bought at disney world.

Today is not so good. I sure hope I snap out of this!

Try not ot look at it that way. There is always a chance that someone will not follow through. Unfortunately, I had no idea who would and who would not. Let me know if you don't get anything and I WILL send you something in the mail. It will be a late SS gift, but something nonetheless. I will send out PM's right now reminding everyone ok? Sorry you are bummed out... I honestly don't know what to do to make the situation right.
