But I have the Canon IS S3 and its truly wonderful. I really love it - has lots of features and fun stuff. And it wasnt $1000.

Yep the Canon Rebel Xt is a GREAT camera !! and Cat is right the S3 is a great camera too. I just bought the SD870 for vacation and I LOVE it too !

Whats up??
I feel like i have been gone months!! What have i missed?? My new computer desk fell apart and i had no where to put my darn computer, which explains my absence. I started having dis withdrawl and now have the think hooked up on 3 snack trays, until i get a new one..

I have major, major news!!

You remember the story from 2 yaers ago, about the 19 month old kid that drowned that me and my guys pulled out of the bottom of a swimming pool dead and we did Cpr on him and he lived to walk out of the hospital 12 days later.

Well anyway we are up for the FDNY poster this year. Every year around may is FDNY week and they put some FDNY employee picture on a poster to promote the FDNY and FDNY week, well we are one of the finalist out of 5 others. If we make it, there is a good chance that they will take our picture with this now 4 year old and hang a huge 50 foot poster in times square, as well as other smaller ones on nyc buses and at bus stops and others around the city. I will know by may 15. How cool is that??? Apperantly he is the youngest cardiac arrest survivor in nyc from the FDNY history. The solgan will be " FDNY making mircales everyday"


NOW FOR THE REAL MAJOR BREAKING NEWS!!!!!!!!!!

I am confirmed at CBR for Auguest 25 to sept 2, airlines prices really dropped like you guys said and i bought my airline tickets and booked the resort this afternoon. So will you guys be there during this time??? Can i still be an popper if i don't stay at pop???

Any of you gonna be there during this time???

Yay PJ!!! Hey, I'm going to NYC May 16 to 18. I need to get from the amtrak station to the Millenium hotel alive. Its for a way too expensive bachelorette party. Anyway, any ideas how to get from there to there?

Your best bet is a nyc taxi, should be about 10 bucks. It's actually only about a 15 block walk, but you might have some problems walking there with luggage with crowds. Right outside of penn station which is the amtrack station is a taxi stand, so exit the station and go to the taxi stand.

The new place is comming along, still have some more little things to get done, but almost finished. It was alot of work, but i was able to score 2 weeks off from work so that really helped.

Well, the Millenium will probably be lovely...its a bachelorette party, but I didn't think this weekend was gonna cost me over $500! At least my train tickets were only $94, and the train actually stops in my town so no gas money wasted there. I'm packing food for the train though.

PJ--So if I just have a backpack and if its daylight, is it walkable? I'm packing light because I don't want to deal with luggage. I'm sure the millennium provides shampoo and soap. So I'm sure it'll all fit in a backpack. I arrive at 5pm, so I'll have time to kill before everyone else gets there (like at 10). So do you think I can just walk it if I'm wearing sneakers? How many miles is 15 blocks? I'll probably take a taxi back though. One of the doormen can flag me a taxi, right? I think I saw that's how it works on TV.

If my memory fits me right, the millenium is on 43 or 46 street and 7th ave, right?? The amtrack station or penn station is on 34 street and 8 ave. so it should be a 10 block walk or close to a half mile to a mile, these are long Nyc blocks were talking about. They have taxi stands outside penn station and the hotel as well. If you start the walk and just don't want to anymore or finds it's more than you can handel after a sitiing on a long train ride, simply walk over to the curb and put your hand out and a taxi will stop to pick you up and take you where ever you want to go.

I hope i was right about the location of the hotel.

So my phone rings at 7pm tonight. My son got to it before i could answer it and tells me its a " captain from the FDNY" i answer.

Me and my crew are it, they picked us and that little boy that we pulled out of that swimming pool for the FDNY poster. The slogan is " FDNY making mircales happen every day" There is some confusion if we will be on the poster as well, one person told me no, but another told one of my guys yes. I have to be at 49 st and 3rd ave on may 14 at 10 am to meet the mayor and press along with my crew. We were told to wear our FDNY suits or class A attire. This is an outside event and the street will be closed down for this. So if your in nyc on may 14 around 10 am and by 49 st and 3rd ave's, by all means stop by. Not to worry i will takes dozens of pictures. Ds will not be going to school that day, but instead comming with me as my guest of honor. He is more excitied for not having to go to school than meeting the mayor. I'm told it will be on all the news channels and in all the papers here in nyc.

Glad you got picked ! I hope you get to be on the actual poster - how cool would that be ?

I decided to go ahead and schedule the Lasik surgery I'm excited but nervous ! I have my pre-op on Monday at 8:30 in the morning and the surgery will be next Friday ( no more glasses for me).

They did confirm that I needed a new eyeglass prescription and instead of investing in all new eyewear and contacts - I might as well just go for it now !!

PJ--That's awesome about the poster!!! I'm gonna miss the press event by 2 days. And yes, the hotel is 7th and 44th or 45th. The bit about putting out my hand made me laugh. I think my taxi aversion is from my experience in San Fransisco. I had this brilliant idea to walk from the bay bridge to the san fransisco bridge (about 6 miles I think). I didn't have time to walk back, so I took a taxi. I swear the guy was driving in circles. Yeah, I know all about one way streets, but he was driving in circles. I didn't like feeling like I was being taken advantage of.

b4 i forget - Lori - YOU WILL LOVE LOVE lasik! I had it 8 years ago & I was as blind as a bat...looking at the clock when you wake up is completely & totally awesome!

ok now for my update....

let' see - we've had gracie's first communion, casey tried out and made the pom pom squad for high school next year. ice show practice has started, we've gone on a band trip, 2 band contests (they won division and then went to state), guest skated in 2 ice shows...(MIch - if you read this - casey is skating up at Carlson this sat & sun in their ice show)...started looking for a new car (I think I'm gonna get the toyota highlander), and I started my JOB! (ok, so I just did orientation...but still)....

that's my life in a nutshell...it's just been crazy busy....

to elaborate...

Pom pom tryouts were crazy! I still can't believe Casey got a spot on the squad...she is beyond excited...HOW exactly she's going to skate, pom, and play the oboe is simply beyond me. We've agreed she has to maintain a 3.0 or something is gone.

the car...we have no car payments now on the 2000 CRV and the 2005 Murano....BUT in 3 years casey will be driving. & Mike puts a ton of miles on each year, whereas I only put about 10,000 on my car....so we're thinking to get a new car now...I'll drive for 3 yrs then give to Mike, then get another new car in 3 years & give the Murano to Casey.......
