Pop

Hi! I used to live in upstate NY!

Yep, Pop Century is a nice choice for a value resort. I've stayed there myself. It's fun, in your face Disney theme, and has huge pools. It's near DTD and the Boardwalk area, but you'll need to take Disney transport (or drive yourself) to all areas.

The only thing I didn't really care for at Pop Century was the food court. There isn't a thing wrong with it, I just prefer All Star Resorts food court.

It depends on many things....what your budget is, what you like in a resort (such as amenities, bus vs. monorail, food court, water slide, etc.) We stayed there last August and loved it. I would return to Pop in a heart beat! If you have little ones they will love it. I had both my 13 year old nephew and my 5 year old son with us and they both enjoyed Pop very much.

love it - going back in Sept!

it is fully of memories.

makes even old people like me feel young again.

I think it will appeal more to you and older folks than the kids. the kids think everything is fun and great. but they don't remember the stuff. You might.::yes::

We've stayed at the Dolphin, CSR, CBR, PO and Pop and have been VERY pleased with Pop. You will enjoy it I'm sure. So go and have a great time!

I recently stayed at POP this past May and we loved it! We have booked again for this coming October. My kids loved it, the kiddie pool is awesome! I liked the food court, it's crowded but the food is good. I really liked (and so did the kiddos) the never-ending slushies that you can put in the refillable mugs.
We have many posed photos around the big icons and when we showed the pictures to family when we got back, they were all like..."What park was that at?!" LOL...They were in shock when we told them that was our hotel! :)

Keep in mind that POP is an absolutely HUGE resort, much larger than the other values. That being said DH & I = after a very unmagical experience at POP in September = now avoid POP like the plague!! :duck: We paid for preferred, got stuck in the back of beyond, not close to anything (no way to move rooms because resort was full). Too many unsupervised & rude kids, rude neighbors, food court was packed no matter what time of day you went that you had to be a table vulture to get a seat to sit down & eat at & pray that your food was still hot when you finally found a table. And the buses........everyone tells you it's fantastic because you don't share, but believe me when you've waited for 2 or 3 busses just to get to a park you find that you don't mind sharing. DH & I have now switched to ASMu which is a much smaller value resort, rooms are refurbished, overall the entire resort seems much nicer and more "magical" than POP. During our last stay at ASMu we only shared a bus 1x & that was to AK, so the whole story about not wanting to stay at any of the AllStars because they share buses was a moot point for us.

Whatever you choose to do, you'll be at WDW, so enjoy your time. We just found that POP didn't work for us anymore. :worried:

We ended up here for 3 nights after a beautiful stay at the Poly, hurricane had shut down Amtrak and we opted to wait it out by moving to Pop until the train was running again. resort is not to our liking, too crowded, too noisy, crowded services and a room that compares to Motel 6, lacks amenities, thin walks and noisy plumbing and beds that are sagged in the middle. We do not care for the over sized icons ,not true to life and alittle over the top. These are my opinions, other guests love the values, but for us its just alittle too much, we prefer the peaceful serenity we get from the deluxes, to each their own though.

Just got back today from POP and LOVED it.

We normaly stay at mods, and I really didnt want to stay there, but my DH said we had to stay value if I wanted a longer trip.

Well, all I can say is I wish I had stayed there sooner. The difference in room size is negligable, we didnt really notice. The theming is fun with the giant icons, it is a big resort, we were in the 50's building 3 which was very close to everything.

We didnt notice any noisy plumbing, the beds were very comfortable, the pool bar makes wonderful frozen drinks. The airconditioning worked perfectly, our room was always very cold. My DS 14 loved the frozen cokes, and the game room.

It was crowded at the food court, but we always found a table pretty quick and the food was very good, better then at some of the quick service restaurants in the parks.

We are planing another trip at the end of the year, and we will be staying at POP. If you have any questions I would be happy to answer them.

I just got back from there yesterday...and I defintely think it is a good choice!
It was clean, the pools are nice, the theming is fun, the food court was good, bus service was good, prices were great...I loved it! (It was my second time staying there.)
