Pop with Military Rate Check-in Question

DH and I will be joining my DSis and DBIL for a week at WDW. We have two roms booked at Pop using DBIL's military rate. We'll all be arriving on the same day, however I think DH and I will be arriving at the resort first. Can we check in right away or do we need to wait for DSis and DBIL to arrive before we can check in?

I believe the discount is verified ahead of time. I'm sure Disney isn't going to dish out discounts without checking first. Maybe verify with your BIL first?

We haven't been since online check in let you skip the front desk completely so maybe it's different now.

But, last time we used the military resort discount we had to show our military id at check in.

We have a resort stay booked for August with the military rate and they have yet to verify we qualify for it. I've assumed we will have to go to front desk to get our room number to show them the military id.

Hopefully someone will come along who can verify one way or another.

Follow up question: do you know if we can use dining plan credits with our magic bands before check in? We will be hungry when we arrive and it'll be nice if we can get lunch first and then I go check in while kids finish eating.

Even booking under the military rate you can use online check-in (and go to the front desk to show id on arrival)which should activate your dining credits. Hopefully others will chime in to verify. I always stop by the desk and make sure everything is good to go first.

We do the same. I like to make sure we had some of our room requests fulfilled also. We never do online check in for all these reasons.

We had 2 recent trips using the military discount, CR in Nov 2016 and AKL in March 2017. Both times I did online check-in prior but still went to the desk when we arrived to just verify everything was in order. I was not asked to present our military ID either time, but I will tell you that it is completely hit or miss with needing to present. The person checking in next to me at CR was also using military discount and was asked to present the ID for check in. I don't know the rhyme or reason behind requesting the ID, but I would say to be prepared to present it! Our magicbands and dining credits were working right away on our first day. Hope that helps a bit!!

I think you need to check-in first, to be able to use meal credits. You can check-in as early as 6:30 a.m., even though your room probably won't be ready.
