When is Pop Warner week this year? I am booked at Port Orleans French Quarter the first full week of December and am wondering if I should change the dates.

According to their website the dates are 12/7-12/13

I'm planning on 11/30-12/10. Should I change my dates? How crowded are the parks? Do they usually stay at the values or at the moderates?

I was there the first week of December last year, they don't make much difference in park attendence, they spend the day at Wide World of Sports. I believe they stay at All Star and PO, you may want to change your resort.

You shouldn't encounter them too much during the day as they are in competitons and games. But you will see them at the Allstar Resorts and Port Orleans not sure which others I know we stayed in a Fairfield Inn when part of the Pop Warner program. Some of the parents are worse than the kids though. I wouldn't change my vacation time though.

Yes, they usually stay at the value/moderates, but "no" I would not change your dates because they (meaning Pop Warner) typically choose the 1st week of December, but they are choosing the 2nd week of December this year because 11/30 (Sunday) falls on Thanksgiving weekend.

Pop Warner only gets bad near the middle to end of their stay. My son & I typically go the 2nd week of December, but are changing our plans this year to Nov 30-Dec 7th, right when Pop Warner is arriving, we will be leaving.
Your dates are fine, I would not change them. Have a great time !!!

Here is the link from Pop Warner's home page with their 2008 dates.

This past December they had their choice of 2 value resorts The Allstar SPorts and the Allstar Music and 2 moderates the POR and POFQ.
From prior posts about the POP Warner group, the POR seems to get the bulk of the group. Just keep in mind that because the POR and POFQ share buses you may have some football players and cheerleaders on your buses most likely in the evening.
Since the groups tend to meet at the same time, you may find a crowd at the foodcourt, especially in the AM and there may be a crowd at the pool in the PM.

1) Two years ago, they had to close the POFQ pool at approx 1:15am.
2) The Pop Warner kids were almost destroying it.
3) They also caused more than $10k in damage at All Star Sports.

4) The Pop kids don't influence park attendance that much.
5) But, they really upset the resorts where they stay.

NOTE: To play in the Pop Warner tourney, the players MUST stay at WDW. It is in the contract between the league and WDW. In many cases the chaperons are not actually controlling the kids, so they run pretty much wild at the resorts.

I wouldn't change your dates... you only overlap a few days.

I was there for PopWarner this year and I stayed directly at Ground Zero - All Star Sports.

Honestly - it wasn't a problem. Food court was busy, but I did NOT experience packs of kids roaming the grounds at all hours making noise at 5am and 2am as has been reported in years past.

That said - you might want to avoid the All Stars and try for Pop Century if you're staying at a value.

Did they announce which resorts they're officially staying at yet? We're getting married on 12-12-08 and we want to suggest resorts to our guests where Pop Warner will not be at. :rotfl:

We never stayed at the value resorts while Pop Warner was there, but we did stay at POFQ ~ THREE times, in fact.
We noticed NO impact in any of the parks. None.
We didn't notice them at the resort except for a few groups of girls with their hair in curlers at the food court.
Don't change your dates...it is a WONDERFUL time to go!

They do not usually post the resorts until later in the year when they give the teams the opportunity to sign up.
However the past few years it has been pretty consistent, The Allstar Sports and Music and the POR and POFQ.

I hope they keep them out of ASMo! I know that they are going to be at WDW while we are there. I knew that going in, but I really am hoping that they don't open up ASMo to them this year.

I really didn't want to be there when the cheerleaders are so this scares me that we are going to be!! I did switch from POR to AKL, mainly because of the discount I got so I won't be staying where they will be. But is there someone around who has stayed at someplace other than All Stars or POR during this week and can tell me if you were able to tell if the group is there?

Thanks,
Debbie

I think that they do not have the Movies as one of the listed resorts because it is the more popular of the 3 Allstar resorts, especially with families with younger children. I am sure that there is always the chance that some of the over-flow can go to the Allstar Movies, but you most likely will not see the large groups there. However, there can be instances where you will run into the groups on the buses. The Allstar resorts do share buses during day at the slower periods.

Congrats! We're getting married on 12/7 and the value we chose is ASM and the moderate is POFQ. This of course was before PW announced their '08 dates. Oh well, hoping for a pleasant stay for our guests if there is 'spill-over' into these resorts.
