Pop Warner Week

I was at Disney during Pop Warner week 2004 and I can say for sure I wouldn't stay in the same resort as them.

We were at POFQ and there were only a few groups at POFQ and one of those managed to get themselves kicked out, but there were a TON at Riverside and they were SO LOUD. I wound up on the buses with them a couple times and it was ear shattering. I don't mind teens, in fact I used to coach gymnastics, but the screaming and yelling was just too much for me.

Another thing is, even though we only had a few groups at our resort, they absolutely took over the pool and had no consideration for the little kids in it. At one point they were up on the bridge thing jumping into the pool and there were little kids all around and I was sure they were going to land on one of them -- I noticed alot of people just left the pool too and it's a shame they felt they had to. I can't imagine what it'd be like with even more teams all in one place.

Does anyone know if Pop Warner week is roughly the same time every year (first/second week of December every year?)?

TIA

We were at ASMo in March with a bunch of cheerleaders. You just have to be a mom all the time with them more than with your own kids. They are pre-teens. I remember how I was when I was that age! I owned the world!

If they are loud at 2:00 am, speak up! If they are obnoxious in the pool, speak up! If they are cussing infront of your kids, speak up! We are the adults and we need to take control of our vacation.

I had laid my towel, small change purse and cell phone on a pool chair. Dd and I were in the pool and when I turned around, my stuff was on the ground! I confronted the group of girls and asked which one of them took my chair. Can you believe that kid tried to say she didn't know it was mine? I said "well why did you think my stuff was on it?" I told her she needed to grow up and start acting a little more respectful. My God I felt old after that. :earseek: But, at least I succeeded in embarassing her in front of her friends. Afterall, that's the worst punishment for a teenager right?

In all seriousness, they aren't that bad. Don't let them ruin your vacations. And if they get out of hand (or the parents for that matter), call the front desk and ask that something be done. They do have rules for these groups and they should follow them.

Gosh, I will be there at the POP during that week, whether the pop kids are there or not............I am going to have a great time!!!!!!!!!!

I feel bad that these kids are getting bashed... I mean, I see plenty of mean parents in WDW... it's not one group of any type that can cause problems.

I booked knowing they are there that week, could care less. I'll be having a blast!!!

You have a great attitude and you are probably going to have a fantastic time at WDW, but you have to understand a little where everyone is coming from.......

If you see one obnoxious family at WDW, chances are you will run into them once, MAYBE twice on your trip, but due to the sheer numbers of POP you will see the kids over and over and they are in packs, which makes them more, shall we say......boisterous......then they would be with just one other friend or their family. I know it's a thrill for these kids, but it's a thrill for everyone else there too.

The POP Warner kids did not ruin my vacation by any means. We had a wonderful time, but due to a few uncomfortable issues and the issues at the pool, in the future I choose to plan my Disney vacation on a different week from Pop and if that's not possible, I will choose not to stay in the same resort.

Everyone deserves to have a wonderful time at Disney, I don't begrudge Pop their fun, but it'd be nice if more of them would show the same respect for other guests fun too.

I have to agree with many on here it really isn't the kids that are bad as I stated earlier it is the parents in all our trips starting in 96 we have only had one incident with a kid and that was on a bus and the driver kicked him off and called security he was ased to leave the grounds. Beyond that one young man the rest of the issues were with the parents.

My step father's family is involved in Pop warner and we were asked to go on the trip for awsome price of $550 :earseek: and we are staying at Port Orleans for seven nights. I'm excited. I'm sure the kids are as excited as I am to be down there. As long as they're not being really jearkie I don't care. They wont ruin my trip I'm in Disney World :earboy2:

We were at POR December 2004 and there were many Pop Warner kids staying there. The food court was definitely crowded first thing in the morning and then again late at night. During the day they were gone at their competitions. Transportation to the parks was not a problem since they were busy all day. The main pool was very crowded at night but we went to a quiet pool and were the only ones there.

Here is a slightly different question, we are looking at going down next year and want to try to avoid them if at all possible. Are the groups more likely to come a few days before competion(i.e. the weekend before) or stay a few days after (the weekend after)?
