Unless your staying at a resort they are staying at, its not a problem. We were at POR last Dec. The end of our trip overlapped the beginning of their trip. The food court was a nightmare so we just stayed away. They weren't really all that bad, just real loud and EVERYWHERE. More often than not they are well behaved. However, there are the select few that can cause problems. Most people don't encounter those few though. There was a HUGE fight between 3 teams at one of the All Star resorts last year and those 3 groups along with their families were evicted from the resort that same night.
Around the parks we didn't find them to be a problem at all.
We also encountered them while staing at All Star Movies in '05. Again no issues. They mostly use All Star Music & Sports and Port Orleans.
Relative to how many kids participe in PW and Cheerleading around the country, it is a very small amount that make it to Disney. There were 64 football teams from around the US that made it for the 2007 championships. For the cheer squads, It doesn't say. Maybe over 100, but there are less participants in a cheer squad than a football team (I think). I can't tell based on looking at the final results from each day from last year. Some teams make it to more than 2 days. Most teams, once they are done, they go home.
