Pop Warner Fight?

Doesn't the "group" get a special rate for traveling with the kids? If so they should be held accountable as a "group" I am sorry the lady report she had three other small "babies" that had to be awaken, how in the world was she watching or controlling an additional bunch of teenagers?
We we down there last week and the kids don't care if they are holding up other visitors or disrupting other persons vacations, several times several of them would decide they wanted to start a cheer and didn't care they were holding the or boat up or if they were deafing people around them. They would be walking along and stop their group and start cheering causing traffic problems. We saw them holding up attraction lines but gathering together and starting to perform, for what ever reason they felt they needed to scream cheers non stop.

Wow, what a story. I guess we have been lucky, the last 3 years we have visited WDW during PW week and never had any issues. We stayed at CBR for the first 2 trips and there was a ton of kids around but they were not doing anything bad...just goofing around and cheering but there was always alot of parents around. The worst of it (which is nothing really) was the food court in the am...LOTS of people and they did not clear their tables.

Now, after all this, are Pop Warner officials going to start teaching the team members some character and sportsmanship and manners?

Are these tour groups from other countries and who often wear like-colored tee shirts also on group rates and subject to mass sanctions too?

the article said:
"They could have said, look, you know what? Fine, you guys have to leave in the morning," Kubo said. "Then our babies — we have 1-year-old, 2-year-old, 3-year-olds — that we had to just jerk out of bed and they were just crying. You know it was just a bad scene. It was really a bad scene."

That's a lot of young kids for that one family if I'm reading that right. Plus the older children already involved in PW.

...the lady report she had three other small "babies" that had to be awaken, how in the world was she watching or controlling an additional bunch of teenagers?

I wondered the same thing. IMHO, if you are traveling as an adult chaperone, you are there to supervise the teens and insure that they are behaving appropriately and staying out of trouble at all times during their trip. It is a responsibility not to be taken lightly.

What the heck were these adult chaperones thinking? Why on earth would they think it was appropriate to bring along infants and toddlers, in addition to the teens they were suppossed to be responsible for? :confused3

Obviously, they did not do a very effective job of properly supervising those teens--hence the fighting in an arcade at the wee hours of the morning. And as a direct result, all in their PW group were asked to leave the property. Seems like appropriate consequences for their collectively inappropriate choices and behaviors. :rolleyes1

I think Disney has the right policy and I think it did the right thing in "asking" all guests in the party to leave. However, if I was among that party and my kid did nothing wrong, I would stay in the my room and refuse to leave until the next morning. I'm no lawyer but I think their are certian rights that a guest has and certian obligations that a host has to their guests when they are paid to board the guest.

Read the fine print of the little plackard on the back of your hotel room doors next time. I think this plackard outlines these rights.

Until a Sherrif or Police officer asks me to leave my paid room, I will stay in the room -- until it's convienient for me to leave (like the next morning).
According to an article in the Honolulu Advertiser:
"This was unfortunate, but with thousands of guests staying at the resort, we have to maintain a safe environment for everyone," Jacob DiPietre, a spokes-man for Walt Disney World, said Monday. "All participants were made aware of our strict zero-tolerance policy regarding any physical disturbances. Any teams involved in fighting are subject to disqualification and eviction. We were in direct consultation with both Pop Warner officials and law enforcement throughout the course of the event."
also:
The Orange County Sheriff's Department sent six units to the scene, and along with Disney security, had the situation settled by 2:20 a.m., according to Jim Solomons, a spokesman with the sheriff's department.
...
Shortly after the fight, at about 3 a.m., the 70 players and family members from O'ahu as well as families from Baltimore were given written notices from the Walt Disney resort informing them that they had 20 minutes to vacate the property or Orange County sheriff's deputies would be called to remove them.
You may think you know what your rights are when staying at a hotel... but Disney knows what its own rights are.

My Dad, sister, a brother and I were in MK from 4-close on Saturday. I told my family that the it was pop warner weekend and probably why the park was so packed. We must have made all the right moves because we didn't deal with any of the bad stuff from pop warner (unless the girl who gave the bird to the splash mountain camera and then felt the need to pat the gator on the head was a pop person but I'm pretty sure she wasn't).

We had a great view of wishes and really had a great day. I'm sure glad we missed out on the crazy stuff...we had no idea that stuff went on.

I read it as though she was using the collective "we", referring to all the families in the group.

We were ending our vacation as the PW folks started checking in (POR), and I definitely agree with the poster who said the mothers were the worst. There was one family in particular that we ran into multiple times a day on our last three days there, and she got more horrid every single time we saw her.

How old are these kids? 1:00 a.m. seems late to me to be letting kids just run around. :confused3 Shouldn't a chaparone make sure they were all in their rooms before going to bed. Also, I thought when we were there last summer the arcade at ASM closed earlier than that. I think Disney did the right thing and I don't see where the parents have room to complain. It sounds like they were not supervising the kids.

This is such a sad story. Aren't the pop warner people embarrassed about this? It makes them look so bad as a group.

You'd hope they would have learned a lesson from being thrown out, but it doesn't look like it.

If I am getting the one group right, they were 14-16 years old.

I am so glad to hear to Disney took this action. We've been there twice during PopWarner and we've vowed never again. Last year was horrible. And I'm sorry, but it wasn't just a "few" bad apples spoiling it for everyone else. Mob mentality definitely kicked in. Good for Disney.

If I am getting the one group right, they were 14-16 years old.

One of the Local articals had them @ The Westport Patriots also advanced, defeating the Buffalo Eagles, 18-6, to capture the regional title among Division II Midget teams (11- to 15-year-olds, 105-160 pounds). Their first game is also Tuesday, against the Sunnyvale Rockets from California.

But i posted on the other thread going .

If they did get kicked out then do they Forfit the SuperBowl win they had.

We checked into POFQ Friday afternoon. I really thought I was in New Orleans with all the booty shorts and sleaze hanging on the street corners. :rotfl:

We were there Tuesday and Wednesday and did not encounter any problems with any PW kids. We saw them lining up for their party at MGM and they were well behaved. They were quieter than the group of girls from S. America that were singing their way out of MGM. The clothing worn by the cheerleaders isn't anything we haven't seen at WDW before.

I say good for the driver that he said something. If I were on the bus and there was lound cheering going on and the bus driver said nothing, I might have said could they please stop and consider that the others on the bus might not want to hear them. So it's good that one Cast Member was not afraid to say something and this example shows how some parents never want to blame their kids for doing something that was making others feel uncomfortable.
The driver of the bus I was on actually pulled off the road, stopped the bus, stood up, faced the crowd, and made his speech about how there would be no more cheering on the bus. That's when one of the mothers started in. After we got to wherever we were going, I remained on the bus to talk to the driver and told him that no one had the right to treat him that way. He was very grateful but then asked me for contact information in case this woman would try to get him in trouble, which I gladly provided.

I know it has to do with sports but can someone explain to me what exactly Pop Warner is?
Lots of young adults want to play football and/or be cheerleaders. The really talented athletes try out for and make their school’s team. The less talented people fall back on Pop Warner. It’s a cheerleading and football program for underachievers.
