I may be overly worried but I read a post yesterday that "of course" the exact week I booked the Pop Warner event is going on.
Staying at all the All Star resorts and the POR. So they'll be pretty booked with a bunch of teenage kids.

We are staying at POFQ which I know is separate, but we share properties and amenities, and I'm sure buses & boat to DTD.

Has anyone else been at these resorts while this was going on? Was is absolutely crazy and loud? We'll be traveling with our DD 4 and DS 8. So we want to be near the pool for ease of walking around.

I'm hoping I'm just over reacting. :rotfl:

Been there, done that, never again.

I accommodated a few friends, since I normally go the Saturday after Thanksgiving, and they all had plans with family.

Little did I know, we landed smack in the middle of it at POR and there was overflow to POFQ.

The most unpleasant experience I have ever had on a trip; ever.

Sadly, they had told me they had already moved us over to CSR. I put my foot down, because I stayed there every year and had booked my trip almost a year before.

Nope, they gave them my waterview room and stuck us in a parking lot view room. The only solace (other than the fact that they did credit me the difference), was that we were far away from the shenanigans at bed time.

However, it was horrible during the day and when the parents started coming back from the days festivities; they were the worst, next to the girls. The guys were surprisingly good.

Anyway, by Tuesday, we relented and took them up on the offer to go to CSR; too late, anyone who had already been given the option took it and they were at capacity as well.

Our one and only stay at POFQ was during Pop Warner week. Our experience was that the resort was fine. The food court appeared to be crowded with younger kids so I'm assuming they either walked over from POR or they were staying at POFQ due to overflow. Since it was our only non-deluxe stay, I'm not sure if the food court is always that way or not.

The buses to/from DTD were horrendous. Very noisy/rowdy kids. However, it's a short ride and we were not doing it on a daily basis.

The parks were not any different than any other time we have been (21 vacations).

Stayed with them a few times at ALL stars, first few times not too terrible, but not great. The last time was AWFUL...NEVER ,EVER ,EVER again.Nope ...Not me, been there and done that.I am sure plenty of people have had great experiences, and I understand that they are kids, excited and are not all bad.But my vacation time is as precious as everyone elses and I am simply not up to wasting my time and hard earned money finding out how well behaved or not they are going to be.I avoid the week completely.

What is Pop Warner week?

The youth Football and Cheerleader championships that bring hundreds of kids to play and stay at Disney in the first full of week of December every year. They aren't too noticeable in the parks during the day and earlier in the week since they are competing at the Wide World of Sports Complex. But as the week progresses and teams are eliminated and of course in the evenings they are in the parks. The biggest issue is generally at the resorts they stay at.

We went in 2009 during Pop Warner week...upgraded our resort to AKL just to make sure we avoided any craziness. Parks were great, resort was great, we would have never known if it hadn't been for the disboards.

Personally, I would take a group of cheerleaders doing cheers over an adult tour group of about 50 people swarmed together holding flags and chanting BRAZIL! We seemed to run into them in every park, every day on a different trip, that got old real quick.

It is Disney World, and there will always be groups, everyone wants to be at the happiest place on earth, right?

Been there and done this also but we never had a problem with pop warner kids. As stated the food courts to us was the worst and it really wasn't a problem it was just over crowded especially at breakfast. We didn't have trouble with loud kids at any point. The parks really wasn't any different and we didn't notice the buses being loud or ny more busy. So, I guess we were lucky that time but I would definatly check that my next trip wouldn't be at the same time just to play it safe.

I just realized my husband and I booked the same week this year. We are going for a long weekend starting Dec. 7, but we are staying at SSR, so not really anticipating major issues. We're just excited to be going child free and will get to see all the decorations at a leisurely pace! :santa:

Heard about this, never lived it. Considering POFQ after Thanksgiving. When does the Pop Warner crowd arrive and how long do they stay? Would you recommend a different mod? Thanks.

One time we did and we swore we'd never go back. We were at POFQ. They were staying at the All Stars and at PORS that year, with the overflow going to POFQ. They were absolutely horrible. Every morning they spread out allover the food court with just a few at each table, they left all their trash on the tables after eating, back talked the CMs, treating them like their own personal servants. We heard one girl get onto another one at the drink station about her bad behavior and the first girl made the comment that her dad had told her that he paid good money for her to come down there and Disney had better treat them like queens. She then glanced at a cm that was walking by and grabbed a handful of straws and just threw them across the floor in front of him and walked off. If you happened to be at the drink station they'd try to push you out of the way. They took over the pool and hot tub with their rough housing, so no one could use them. They'd wake you up early in the morning and late at night practicing their cheers in the courtyards. There was a bunch that thought it was funny to run up and down the walkways late at night banging on doors. Calling security on them did no good, because they'd be gone before security could get there. Their so called chaperones and parents all acted like a bunch of drunk sailors on leave, taking over the lounge and pool bar. One night going to DTD, the captain had to stop the boat and two men had to separate two drunk moms who were about to fight. Coming back from DTD that same night, we decided to use the buses. There was a large crowd waiting for the bus. When it finally pulled up, a bunch of Pop Warner girls came running up and literally pushed their way through the crowd to get on that bus, with the parents/chaperones encouraging and pushing right along with them. When the bus driver tried to intervene, they cursed him and told him to just call another bus then. We saw some CMs at the resort in tears and one we spoke to, said they were always bad, but this was the worst bunch she had ever seen. Our second day with them, we went to guest service to complain. The lines were long, but once we finally got to a CM, he gave us a disgusted look and said there were over 40 complaints ahead of ours. He said they knew they were out of control, but what were they to do, there was simply too many of them.

I swore I'd never go back again during Pop Warner. However, this past Dec due to work conflicts I had no choice but to go that week. I did a split stay at CSR and YC and never noticed the Pop Warner crowd. If I hadn't known it, I'd have never known they were there that week. So as long as you are not at the same resort they are, you'll be fine. However, if they are at your resort it will be a crap shoot. Some people have said other than being loud, they had no problem with them at their resort. Others have had situations like mine. Although to be fair we never noticed any of the football players. It was just the cheerleaders and drunk chaperones and parents that were a pain.

I believe we were at POFQ with them the same year MissyTara was. Even the CMs said that whereas they are always bad, that year they were particularly bad, even worse than usual. They were like a huge group of out of control hooligans.

From our experience, it seems like these people start showing up the Tues-Weds after Thanksgiving and most are usually gone approx 10 days later usually by the 2nd weekend in December.

I had similar issues that last visit I did during their time frame. It was the final straw for me too

I'm absolutely devistated. :sad2:
This is our first trip out there and was sooo looking forward to staying here. It was the resort my husband wanted most as well. Now when I look at moving to a different location there doesn't seem to be anything available except for CBR in the pirate rooms (which cost more and I hear aren't worth it at all). Unless we go deluxe, which then again... WAY MORE.
I keep thinking, "Don't let this get to you, there are always events/conventions of people and it's still going to be wonderful." However if even half this stuff happened to us my husband would refuse to ever return and I'm sure would ruin the magical experience for the kids. At least the resort part of it.
Now I'm thinking I should just look off site???
If only I could get a great code/savings to afford a deluxe instead. Guess I'll just wait and hope. :confused3
Would totally change the week if we didn't already have family going at the same time, staying in their time share off-site.

I wouldn't let it wreck your trip.Though lots of us have had bad experiences, there are lots that have NOT.If going during this time frame was my only option I would still go, but I would be much much better prepared knowing what I know in advance.

Thanks KingGoofy. That's, coincidentally, the exact dates we were considering going!!! Guess I'll use my pin code at some place other than POFQ.

I wouldn't chance letting your husband get a bad impression of Disney on his first trip. If you have family staying offsite, you would probably be better off staying off site for this trip. Have you checked into Allstar Vacation Homes?
http://www.allstarvacationhomes.com...&ovcpn=ALL+EARS&ovcrn=Accommodations&ovtac=AD

You can always come back if everybody still wants to!

ETA: Just noticed that Allstar search refinements don't seem to be working at the moment, but there is plenty of availability for those dates. Also, they offer a free rental car with a week's stay, and other specials.
