Pop Warner Event?? Any experience??

I wouldn't chance letting your husband get a bad impression of Disney on his first trip. If you have family staying offsite, you would probably be better off staying off site for this trip. Have you checked into Allstar Vacation Homes?

You can always come back if everybody still wants to!

Funny thing is. I actually have a 2 bedroom suite already paid for at Star Island off site. Hardly paid a thing for it so I don't mind if we use it or not.
I just really wanted our first trip to be extra special and hoped to get free dining to help AND of course all the Disney extras staying onsite.
No parking fees, easy access back to the room. etc. etc.

But we may just do that if nothing better comes up. I figure I still have a while until I have to cancel and get my money back. Hoping a nice pin code or deal will pop up soon for us so we can go deluxe instead. :)
:cool1: Maybe calling Disney to "cancel" would make them hand out an incentive to stay. ;)

Trying to stay positive about it. Maybe my DS8 wouldn't mind all the cheerleaders! :rotfl2::rotfl2:

I've mentioned this before on another thread...

We experience the Pop Warner crowd first hand in 08 and 09. We stayed at the All Star Music both times. In 08, we didn't have much of a problem. The kids were not screaming or behaving badly. It was crowded at the foodcourt during breakfast though. We didn't experience anything unpleasant about the Pop Warner crowd in 08, so we booked AS Music again for 09.

But that was obviously a mistake. In 09, the kids were screaming and making all kinds of noise at the resort (slamming doors, yelling profanity and running along the corridors), etc. This was close to midnight! Their adult chaperones weren't much better. It was as if they weren't there at all. I had to call the front desk a few times, but that didn't help much. It was awful. I will never return to any resort where the PW crowds are staying at. I so love AS Music, but as long as they're going to be there, I will have to look for an another resort to stay at.

I'll echo everything the Previous posters already warned you about. Our stay at POR was phenomenal, until Pop Warner arrived the last 2 days of our trip. It was like a different resort, really. I actually found myself sad for the resort itself, and for us, thinking what a shame it was to trash such a gorgeous spot.

I will never, ever, do it again. We stayed off-site our first trip and, while we didn't have all of the Disney extras, we still had a wonderful time. And DH still wanted to go back the next year. :)

I wonder if they place "them" in a certain section of the resort. :confused3
I would put in a request for a room on the opposite end of the resort. It won't help in the food court or busses, but you still will be able to sleep.

They are alllllll over the resort; they are everywhere. There is no getting around them; they probably have booked about 70% of the resort.

With the refurbs going on, I wonder if they will even have enough rooms for Pop Warner on their week.

When I was there in 2006; I checked in and was told all my luggage and my ressie had been moved to CSR, because they were full. And I had made my ressie the week I returned the year before. I was furious; they did credit me for the waterview room I paid for and stuck me with a parking lot view, giving away my riverview requested room to a Pop Warner family.

Never again.

I wouldn't let it wreck your trip.Though lots of us have had bad experiences, there are lots that have NOT.If going during this time frame was my only option I would still go, but I would be much much better prepared knowing what I know in advance.

No don't let it ruin your fun! I was at the All Star Sports last year duing Pop Warner, and we had no problems with them at all. I was prepared for the worst after reading a bunch of horror stories here, but everything was fine. No cheering at all hours, no screaming kids in the food court (well, no more than usual) and no bad behavior.

I wouldn't change resorts to avoid Pop Warner, and I certainly wouldn't move off site!

Kids running around spitting on the windows at POR was too much for us.

Have you considered upgrading to AKL or WL? Or a studio at one of the DVC resorts? Maybe the Swan or Dolphin is offering a discount for which you qualify.

I'm recommending these resorts because they are the less expensive "deluxe".

Once you get into the parks, I don't think you will notice them. If you do, you have the option of heading in a different direction.

Good Luck.

Why not try calling and tell them about your concern and that you'll be cancelling until they can move you to another resort? Or just keep calling to change resorts - something will open up.

There could also be room discounts announced that would allow you to move to another resort for the same or less. Don't discount the option of DVC resorts - a studio with a discount is usually the same, or could even be less than a standard room.

Basically, you're dealing with a group of kids AND parents who are generally from inner-city programs who have probably never been to Disney World before. Most of them are unchaperoned.

Been there, Done that. Will avoid it like the plague in the future.

We have found that the week prior to Thanksgiving is great. Disney makes every effort to have all the Christmas decorations up by the week of Thanksgiving. I kind of like seeing some of the resorts transform practically over night to a wonderous Christmas theme.
