We're considering changing our cabin reservation to a campsite, because first , we're buying a nice used pop up this month, and second, we REALLY need to save money! Can we put up a small tent as well-there's 6 of us-my hubby and me, daughter, and 3 sons. My daughter really likes a little privacy away from her brothers. Of course, depending on weather/temperature, she may choose to sleep in the PUP anyway.

Yes you can.

A tent can go with an rv, travel trailer, Class C, or a pop-up. And the same 10-people-per-site rule applies.

BTW, we love pix of new-to-you trailers. :thumbsup2

PS - they can go on any of the site types but only the Premium doesn't have a sand pad for a tent. So it might be awkward finding a spot off the concrete close by. But as long as you know that going in for a Premium, a tent can go on any site.

Exactly, bring on the tents! If you intend to stake one down on a premium don't forget the railroad spikes and sledge hammer.

Oh, yeah, we really do like pictures of "new to you" campers, some of our favorites actually.

Mchurchill,

I just answered your grocery delivery question but feel like I need to say something else in this thread (not grocery related). I noticed on your ticker that as of today you trip is in 2 months and 2 weeks which puts it in early August? I'll tell you as one popup owner to another that I hope the popup you are getting has a fantastic air conditioner because you will need it to sleep comfortably at night in August. During the daytime your a/c may not be able to keep up with the heat load if you don't have a shady campsite. The canvas bunk ends will be very hot during the day because the a/c will "leak" out the ends.

So in the time between when you get the popup and when you head to the Fort, make sure the a/c is in tip-top shape. You didn't say what state you live in and you might think that the popup with a/c will be a refuge from the summer heat like the cabin is but sometime's it's a struggle.

Here is my old popup (had it 10 years) from our April 2013 trip to the Fort in site 127:

And here is my new popup (an A-frame now that the kids are moving on) from my January 2015 trip to the Fort in site 218:

Yes, we'll be arriving August 8. We just got a very good deal on our 1999 Rockwood Freedom pop up, bought from friends of ours from church. No a/c yet, but will install before our trip. We live in Wisconsin, and will be taking it out next weekend for the annual Memorial Day weekend campout with about 15 church families. For the WDW trip, most days will be at the parks, maybe Disney Springs, and down days will include a bit of pool time. Definitely will want a cool refuge for sleeping. I'm thinking of requesting loop 1500, as it is smaller, and near a pool/trading post. I may ask for a shady site near the comfort station, if those are requests they would consider honoring.

I've also seen other tips/tricks that pop up/hybrid owners have used to combat heat.....such as reflective blankets on top of the bunk ends...perhaps they could elaborate more on what exactly they are using and how they secure it.

If you camp frequently in hot, sunny climates then Popup Gizmos (or PUGS as they are affectionately called) are popular. People swear by them.

Others try to do knock-off Pugs on the cheap.

I never seriously considered them since we took just one trip every summer to the beach so I could not justify the investment. Your best bet is to get a shady site.
