Pop room requests?

I am going to be at POP from May 9th - 15th. I originally had a Preferred Room booked through AAA. When the AP rates came out my DH called to change the ressie to the AP discount with dining. When he got off the phone he said he had to switch to a standard location. I have looked to see if any preferred rooms are open several times each day. Nothing has opened up so far.

If nothing opens up what would be a good location to request? I want to be as close as possible to Classic Hall and the pool. Also can I ask to be upgraded to a room in the preferred section. I am willing to pay the upgraded price. Which is $106 on the weekend and $86 on weeknights. What are my chances of a preferred room being available.
