Hello,

Which is the best building to stay in at pop we booked a standard room. We plan to be in the parks not really in the room. I've also heard people ask for upgrades how do you do this?

Hello. The best building in my opinion is 60's, facing the lake. its sooo peaceful and tranquil. Such a beautiful view. Plus it puts you close to the main building. We always get standard and ask for this room. Its lovely! We had a corner room in the 60's facing the lake, closest to the bridge connecting to art of animation. I went over there a few times to look around. It was great! Also, if you drop some crackers/bread in the lake by the bridge, a bunch of huge turtles will swim up to the surface. really neat to see.

You can ask for free upgrades upon check-in.

We stay there twice and chose the 90s building both times. I like the side that is not adjacent to the pool. It's always quiet and the computer pool is right on the other side so it's a very short walk. The parking lot is usually pretty empty over there so you'll find a space close to your room. It's not too distant from the lobby, less than a 5 minute walk. It's the building with the room numbers 8101-8472

Upgrades are generally assigned in advance by the resort, due to their own operational needs. It's just a matter of being in the right place at the right time, and it happens a lot less frequently than you would think by reading these boards. Rule one of message boards....just because people talk about something a lot, doesn't mean it happens a lot.

Asking for a free upgrade at check-in is not recommended. Resorts don't hand out upgrades they can charge for just for the asking, and it puts the CM in an uncomfortable position. In fact, multiple CMs have posted here that the best way to ensure that you won't get a complimentary upgrade.....is to ask for one. On the rare occasion that they do have the ability to do an upgrade, they'd much rather surprise a guest with one ("pixie dust"), than just give it to someone who walks up and asks for a freebie.

If you really, really, really want the preferred room at Pop, the best way to get it is to call and change your reservation. Or, you can ask what the upgrade would cost at check-in.

I agree that the 60's is the best building. I requested that at check in, and my very recent vacation at Pop was definitely a whole lot more fun/convenient because I was in the 60's building.
