POP refurbed rooms with Flat Screens! Update Page 13 **

Couldn't help but notice... it says 64 degrees. I was told that the thermostat was controllable between 68 and 76 degrees. If you wanted it lower, you had to have someone come override it.

Can't remember - does it say 64 because that's the ambient temp in the room? Not the desired temperature that is set?

I just got off the phone with Aleah at Pop Century. I called Pop directly and the CM transferred me to Aleah when I asked about refurbished rooms. She said as of today building 4 and 5 are being refurbished now, she said they are working on 1st and 2nd floor. I wanted to request 4th floor in either building facing lake.We check in 8/15 and she did not know if 3rd and 4th floors would be finished. So I guess I am changing my request!

Thanks for the update. I put in my request for 60's lakeview this week. But we have a bit longer til we leave. So I'm hoping there done by then.

Oh, thanks for the picture. That is easy to see that it is indeed a motion sensor no matter WHAT the "front desk" woman said.

Do you recall what your room number was? or at least the section or area?

I have request 70's rehabbed, non-preferred side. I'm hoping to be close to room 0125 which is the room we had last time. I am fairly certain our thermostat didn't look like that over there. At the time, that room was partially rehabbed. The bathroom had been done, but the rest of the room had not. Old dresser/TV's and old LOUD bedspreads.

I was on the 4th floor 60s building facing the water. I could adjust the thermostat down to 58 degrees :thumbsup2

By pressing the buttons in a certain order you could override the unit......
This information on the override order would be great
Thx

PS: I am staying in September @ pop, requested a King bed room in the 60s building, any info on refurbed king bed rooms in the 60s?

We made the same request (building 4 or 5, lake view) and hoping they are refurbished, but the most important parts are the connecting rooms.

The flat screen tv does nothing for us, the lack of dresser space may be an issue with a refurb, and since we have two rooms (one for adults one for kids) we can just close the door for privacy.

I will be arriving on the Aug 1 so check in late on the 1st for an update ;)

I will be anxiously awaiting to hear! :) Safe travels and I hope you have a wonderful vacation!

I'm fairly certain that in my 70's decade partially refurbed room (0125) did not have that kind of thermostat. I bet different rooms have different kinds. I never set my themostat lower than 68-72.... brrrr:cold:

What is the last update for the refurb? As in what buildings are done... 49 days and counting!

I was there yesterday (July 30,2010 ) Stayed in the 70's and must say the refurb looks great. The Carpet is is new and looks 100% better then the old carpet. The Walls has no border at the top ( That was so 90's if you ask me I never liked it.) The new color palette is a big improvement over the old one.The new flat screen HD TV's take up less space, And yes they now have Some HD Channels on the CCTV system. All the networks are HD. They are working on the 50's at thi time.

Can anyone confirm if the 60's are done. They were working there but it doesn't seem like they are done?

Here is a picture of the thermostat from my room last fall. The motion sensor is shown.
I don't have the directions in hand. By pressing the buttons in a certain order you could override the unit......

The thermostat has to be one that has a power button. They're the ones that people used to have problems with. I think they have all been replaced so overriding the thermostat is no longer a concern. It's not even possible anymore. Here is the information C&P'd from the Groovier New Pop Century FAQ;

if by chance your thermostat unit has a "Power" button (realize reports say most guests do not see this kind at Pop any longer), the following instructions should work to turn off the sensor
push the power button and the down arrow (button that adjusts the temp) at the exact same time. If you do this correctly, you will see the letters "bp" where the temp normally shows. You are now bypassing the sensors in the room.
set the temp to whatever you want and it keeps the room that cold whether you are in it or not.
note that you might have to do this once a day as the thermostat tends to go back to sensor mode after 24 hours.
you can call maintenance to turn off the motion sensor, however, whatever they do to it only lasts 24 hours

You aren't going to find this kind of thermostat so don't worry about it.

There's a report from SheIsGoingToDisney, who just returned from Pop, about seeing work going on in the 50s buildings, on building 3:
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=37587022#post37587022

It's sounding like these buildings are done or mostly done: 70s, 80s, 90s
Other reports of work going on: 60s and 50s
Reports from people calling Pop Century for info: 60s to be done next, then 50s last. Also reports that all refurbs to be done by September. Still not sure if that means by Aug 31 in time for September, or some time in September.

I just booked last week for mid September. All that was left was preferred in the 60s and I was told they had been refurbished. But wasn't sure of the accuracy, so called the hotel today. Got transferred 3 times and finally ended up in housekeeping. They said rooms in the 60s have been completed...not sure if accurate or not - I find it hard to believe the front desk couldn't answer the question.

If this is true thats awsome. We are booked preferred 60's end of Aug.:cool1:

We stayed in Pop 60's -Bldg 5, 4th floor (just left yesterday) and we had a refurbished room.

I know its off topic but I have to ask. Is 'uplift' another word for toilet? I have never heard that term before.

:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

Sorry- I was typing on my phone and it tries to change it when it thinks it knows what your trying to spell, but the problem is it changes it if you continue typing the word you are trying to type. That or I just misspelled it, lol.

What I was trying to say was the toliet was not flushing correctly and would make a horrible sound as it tried. If you didn't hold it down really long it would just try to flush but not get the job done. In the end we just decided to live with it as we didn't want them to move us from the room.

So you are in the 60's section or 70's section?

One of those buildings is 70's and one is 60's?

Sorry- It was building 5, 60's section fourth floor. Again, done on my phone.
