POP refurbed rooms with Flat Screens! Update Page 13 **

I agree with your DD!!! I went down in spring 2008 and did a CP at BBB and then a PI at AK-kids discovery clubs and AK turned me seasonal and so I'm leaving in 2 days..not to work but to celebrate my birthday :) I have until 12/31 to work my 40 hours or I will be cut off. I don't have more than a weeks paid vacation at my job so I'm debating if it's worth it or not. My brother is interviewing next week for a CP :)

Tell your DB good luck next week! Yeah she is going to get about 24 hours this week and will go back in May (Memorial Day weekend) to get in another 8 since we are there too for a trip with her DGrandMom and us she'll just work 1 day then she'll go back for the week after Christmas to finish up her 40. She just LOVES going back to see everyone :)

. . .now I haven't read through the entire thread (so if this is repeated info, I apologize). . .but in addition to the 70s. . .they are also working on the 80s quad! I was down there two weeks ago and they were working on the second floor around the 'SONY Walkman'. New mattresses lined up along the railing. . .paint fumes in the air. . .and we saw a stack of 20 or so flat screen tvs waiting installation.

A little added info. . .

LOVE LOVE LOVE my TA!!! :hug:She was able to get us switched to the POP!!! WooHoo!!! :cool1:

Can NOT wait!!!!

We got in a refurb room in bldg 6. I haven't been back to the 80s or 90s so I can't say how that is going. I haven't seen any signs of any work around the 60s or 70s. I will try to ask a CM before we leave about the schedule. The refurbed rooms are so much nicer! Love everything! The only drawback is less space in the dresser.

UGH??? Where are the pics?

Not sure why some DIS'ers are questioning the validity of the Allears pics.:confused3

The pics on Allears are legit. I know the person who took those - she was at POP, put in a refurbed room and happens to be one of the photographers on Allears...

See, now I don't know what to do. We're staying in POP in April. 3 adults, one room. I like the idea of the new room..dividing curtain is a help, etc. BUT 3 adults and only 3 draws? For 11 nights? Humm. What would you do?

I would get as much in the drawers as you can and then either bring hangers from home (buy cheap ones at walmart or dollar tree) or request extra ones from mousekeeping. You can also keep some not needed things in your suitcase and sort of live out of that as well. If space is a huge issue you might want to consider moving to a moderate resort to have the extra room, double sinks, and more drawer space :) :thumbsup2

We can't afford to move to a moderate unfortunately :sad2:. I love POP so happy to stay there and we're only there to sleep. It's more a case of 'do we ask for a new refurb room or not' cause new refurb seems to give the impression of more space in the room but at the cost of draw space. Wondering if we'd be better asking for a none refurbed room. I love 80s and I know they are doing that one up.

Just seen your countdown btw - happy birthday and have a good trip. It's my birthday trip in April :thumbsup2

No DIS member has posted pics of the refurb'd rooms yet that I've seen.

But I can 124% guarantee -- the pics as seen on AllEars are valid... for a couple of reasons.

1) I absolutely trust Deb at AllEars. She wouldn't post something that wasn't valid.

2) The papers were filed by Disney with the proper authorities for the construction permits required for the work being done (room refurbs)

3) I know folks who have seen the rooms with their own eyes. Just not with their own cameras. :)

They'll be posted sooner or later. Patience ... Patience.. it IS a virtue. :)

I was thinking of getting one of those hanging shelf thingies for the closet area to store more folded clothing...anyone have any luck using those with hotel closets? Just wondering if it is difficult to attach to the pole in the closet? It seems like it would make up for the loss of drawer space?

If you really need the extra space I would try for the older rooms but if you really want to try the new rooms, why not bring a few things from home to help w/ extra storage? Such as a hanging sweater rack, oodles of hangers (or ask for extra), and anything else you can think of that will help you make up for the lost drawer space. You could each bring one of those pop-up hampers and use it for clean clothes instead of dirty.

OK - sorry for the delay...I am one of the posters that reported staying in a new room on March 3 (6228). These aren't very good because we got there at night and were in a hurry to get DD2 to the food court, but here is at least verification that the rehab pictures on AllEars are valid.

I would do but it's kinda of an issue in the cases cause we're flying from overseas. Hangers are poss but the other things not so much :sad2: Think if we get a new room we might just have to 'live out of the case' a bit. Not a big deal. Do the new rooms actually give you more 'space' ie...smaller furniture?

thanks for the pictures Auditor!! can't wait to be at POP in May..hope to get a refurbed room :)

I use these when travelling, overseas and domestically - it folds flat into basically the space of a folded bath towel.

As for floorspace/furniture size - it's never really been an issue at Pop, I can only imagine the 'feel' of the space is even better/larger now that they have reduced the bulk of the TV cabinet.

That was exactly what I was suggesting. It would fold flat and pop up hampers also fold flat as well as hanging shoe racks (great for little odds & ends).
That stuff would take up less room in the suitcase then hangers.

See.. I no sooner post that someone will post pictures sooner - and someone does!

Thanks Auditor!
